Should I go with MK 2’s or after market headers? I don’t want any cell problems with after market. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I would go aftermarket, way cheaper. You will have to address the CEL most likely though. I did, with O2 extenders. Don't forget to bin those lower brackets that caused your headers to fail in the first place.
Agency Power headers here too, plus Kline Innovation exhaust. No check engine light and the sound is just amazing: Dan
Installed Fabspeed Sport Headers with blankets yesterday. Comes with 02 extenders. Hooked up to the OEM Sport Exhaust. I don't have to spend another moment thinking about the disintegrating OEM manifolds. Love the sound and the performance. Worth every penny in my opinion.
is it possible to weld the original leaking exhaust? I've succesfully done so on my US spec 360 and took out the pre-cat ( it wasn't leaking) so i wonder if the f430 can be done the same.
As always it seems hit and miss. I thought I would have a head start being euro spec , but no, but extenders fixed it up good.
is there a used capristo bracket for sale? I didn't see many. need a set of those or maybe make one myself
I replaced my 08 430 manifolds with Tubi’s. Great sound and no CEL. They are pricey as is everything I buy for the redhead.
How can one distinguish between Mk1 and Mk2 OEM manifolds? The ones on my '05 were replaced before the OEM warranty expired. I removed them recently to replace with AP headers, and they still look like new. I estimate they have between 2500-3000 miles on them.
Some have had luck with simple, cheap extenders on amazon or up to the minicat extenders from fabspeed
Does anyone know the magic number for clearance on the O2 extenders for our cars? I did some research on the extenders. There seems to be a lot of cheap stuff out there. I'm apprehensive buying anything from China....in contrast, Fabspeed's asking price on the extenders made me chuckle. Then there's Big Daddies > here Anyone try them out?
I had immediate CEL after going with precatless headers. Went with the cheapie extenders, 45deg about 1.5" long aimed forward towards the plenum. Fitted great and worked great. Hardest part was unplugging the sensors and the wiring for them around the air boxes.
Full disclosure. I didn't do the work, but my mechanic did the job pretty quickly. Sorry, I know that is not the answer you are looking for.
I’m no mechanic. I had the car on a 4 post lift. Took the under tray off and soaked all the nuts in Kroil for 36-48 hours. Hitting them again periodically. From the start of removing the first nut to having the job done and car started back up (panels not back on), took me and a friend around 6 hours to swap the manifolds and get everything bolted back up. We took our time. Unbolting the AC compressor is well worth it.
I have a good supply of various 12 mm wrenches and sockets, how much of a PIA where the manifold flange nuts? Did many of the studs come out with the nuts? I have replacement studs, hopefully the old ones will come out easily. Did you remove them all and if so any problems? A lot of questions I know TIA!
no problem! After soaking they all came off easily. Just go slow. 15/16 came out with the head studs attached. This actually makes it a PITA because you have to turn the wrench a ton. The one that didn’t, we used an extractor socket to take that out. The most useful wrench was a ratcheting stubby. We had to grind the outside of the ratchet end down to thin it out so we could get it around the nuts that are closest to the header pipes. This was especially important when taking off the stock headers as they have this little flare on them. Actually thought I got the wrench wedged in there, but was able to work it free. That’s when we decided to take the grinder to it. Let me know if any more questions. Pic of the ground down stubby 12mm ratchet wrench. Pic of the little “flare” I’m referring to on the stock headers. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
