Idk if these are considered "NOS", but maybe a helpful idea of the market? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-308-QV-328-Silver-Five-Spoke-Ferrari-Style-16-Wheel-Set-4-Pcs-New/202340135442?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D5578a642724748aeaa696a53a718ca93%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D202561872285%26itm%3D202340135442&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
Thanks for that, seriously! I'm not sure WHAT those are....repros, in the proper size? Note there's no marking on them at all.... I am going to unwrap mine and get the casting stamp from them.
Ebay ones are "Ferrari style" according to the ad listing...so yes, repos. BTW, per forum ad rules, you are required to state a price in your ad. I'd just put in a high price and add "or best offer".
Tex, If these are factory QV wheels, and I totally believe you since you've been on here forever, they should sell in a heartbeat! 5K at least doesn't seem out of line to me. GLWS!
What is the price please? Forum advertisement rules clearly state a price must accompany the advertisement. This isn’t an auction site! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Ah, sorry everyone, I am not up on the 2019 Ad Rules, as a I do not sell very much... Thanks George, for the guidance, I was thinking $6,000 USD would be a good starting point of negotiations...…"Or Best Offer", or course. Shipping additional, but I sent the luggage to Australia, so I guess anything is possible.
I paid $3200 for a set of 5 (3-7x16 and 2-8x16) in the late 80's when I paid $27,500 for the car. If 308 are now $75K~$100K cars, I think you are ~1.5X too low
Well, I thought "$10,000 USD" was a bridge too far!! But yes, I did a lot of those same maths in my head, to come up with a price! Per Steve: $8,000 USD LOL! We really only have Albert LPs recent deal of a brand new one, to go by. But the Rules Enforcers want a price!! Most of you know me, I am a "pick up the phone, let's work something out" kind of guy!
QVs are yet to be $100K, though...only the rusty, early NON Cat carbed cars... In the midst of the Polar Vortex tomorrow, I will brave to get details of the casting stamps!
These OEMs almost have to come from a car that was wrecked beyond repair. Mine look "well used" but I unwrapped them to look for cracks and defects and they are good.. Mine also do have correct Factory valve stems and center caps... Let me see if my iPhone will cough up the photos!
….lets see how this goes....Cromodoras This one is a Front obviously.... I will admit I just received them a year ago and stacked them in the corner! But will warranty them to be true, and usable. Refinishing is always an option. Hi Big Tex. Can you believe the mods deleted my post? Apparently I expressed an opinion. WTF? Anyway, here's a bump for you.
Mine too ! Would love to know what "rule" I broke ---- what a joke. GLWS, Tex --- looks like those are in real nice shape !
Yeah, it's the whole you-twit-insta-face generation: can't say anything, lest you offend Bruce Jenner; can't offer an opinion, just hit the "like" button
The number of pin dots (1 to 12) in the small boxes indicates the month of casting production = 2 = February The year is denoted in the double wide box on the end ---- hard to read but looks like an "8" and a "0", so that = 1980 So, my best guess is these wheels were cast sometime in February, 1980 (though probably not machined until some time later, when the OE car was actually being built ---- as it is typical to inventory cast parts but wait to finish / machine until they are actually queued up for delivery / assembly / production).
Crazy....well here's an update, so I hope they will allow some discussion here. One of the fronts, at some point, was "bottom of the stack" and showed on the rear, some rim rash, again...back side. So, as I am refinishing my 14" set anyway, I went to work prepping it up, and painting. It has very little stamping on this casting, at all! In fact, the only thing on the rear face, is a hand struck numbering....."4 78". So I will get a picture of it when painted (proper primers, of course) and make sure it matches in all respects, the other front rim. So, a set, but not a "date matching" set. I do have an offer via PM that unless there's any more interest, may take the day. Thanks everyone, I wanted to deal them here instead of a bunch of eBay stress! Pictures to follow....
I got my post deleted as well! All I said was I got a set of OEM 16' wheels from Rutlands about 9 years ago for $3K that's all! WTF? Is it an algorithm that deletes these posts?
No, it's the Mods, it's the 2019 Effort to Improve the Ads Section. I think mainly the normal "GLWS!" are being knocked down like Skeet Clays.... I support it, (we have to!) but it's rather different than the Old Rules. That's the kind of Price Check I was looking for, as these have always been pretty rare, and when offered are dearly priced. So here's the latest: Upon further examination, one of my fronts is odd man out. It's date stamped "4 78" with no raised lettering, leading me to believe its a Campagnolo, that has lost its lettering to refinishing. Furthermore, I have to say it "shows it's age".....the late '70s were rather leaner times for Ferrari. This wheel looks like it was painted with Glyptol or some hell for stout paint at some point! Also note the "full spoke" pattern being visible on the rear face, the main variance from the other three!! I did not want to do any more than reprime the bare metal, with IMO the proper Zinc Chromate, and then I resprayed the rear face only, with modern Duplicolor . I left the front face alone for the new buyer to decide what to do!! See below. Thanks everybody! Somebody PM an offer..... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
