Well, I find this to be terrible news. The SKY network coverage is really bad. They are a group of uninformed Brits who broadcast a Lewis Hamilton Love Fest. You never hear anything about the Haas Team. Rarely have informed discussions. Offer few updates on what the teams (other than MB and Ferrari) are doing. I do not get the impression that they are interested in or understand the technical aspects of the sport. I would rather see some commercials if it meant they could hire decent commentators reporters. I still miss Hobbs and Matchett. No Commercials? Proof again that you get what you pay for.
Don't know for sure, but they will probably do what they did last year and shuffle the various practice and qualifying sessions around. That part I don't like. So I guess that would apply to Hobbs as well, correct?
Ive chatted more than once with Martin - quite informed he is actually and cordial as well on each occasion
I'm happy enough with this. The commercial free aspect is the biggest win here. The split coverage between multiple ESPN/2/3/U/Ocho often requires a bit of DVR forethought as the "Record Formula 1" often lets a P3 or Qual slip thru the cracks. Watching with F1-smart fans makes it all the better and I don't mind "Crofty" all that much.
If you want to appreciate F1 commercial free coverage, tune into the 24 hrs at Daytona on now. Ugh, far too many interruptions.
No more pitwalk interviews of celebs. Most of them are there because it is a place to be seen, and know nothing about racing.
The old broadcast was dogshit. There's a reason we had threads on what VPN's to get to watch the Sky broadcast lol. So much better now and with no commercials is awesome.
Oh man, Will Smith on the team radio praising Ham on his WDC. "That's how you do it!" Fukn ridiculous!
So all those times they talked to Gunther Steiner live on the pit wall throughout the race weekend, they were talking about Mercedes? OK. I must have missed that part.
Is he going to stop screaming this year? And telling us what drivers are thinking when he can't have any clue?
