I like the concept too! It would be great to see more of the engine from the rear and I like the center post detail. Not sure about the vertical edges on the outboard part of the opening though.

As a practical matter, however, any grill open at the back (even the OEM Challenge grill) will draw a lot of dust into the engine compartment. So, it comes at a price of more cleanup.

The paint is gloss, not Crinkle/Wrinkle. I tried doing the wrinkle texture on another piece of cast aluminum and it looked pretty bad.
Apparently the reason Ferrari uses red Wrinkle is because that texture and color hides the cast pits and flaws.
Not that that's a bad thing. My painter's helper worked a solid week priming and wet sanding it.
Not perfect but a normal person couldn't see any flaws in the job.

This car has the Target Aero kit from Japan. I believe it is discontinued. The only car I’ve seen it on in the U.S is the Giovanni Wheels Silver 360 (which this car might be).

You'll probably find that the lid is secured by pins and just lifts out.
I have seen this on some race cars.

Did something similar with mine while I had the intake apart, used black crinkle paint with clear coat, all hi-temp engine stuff...originally tried the red, but it was so bright and didn't seem like it was crinkling very well, so stripped and used black. Also used the non-crinkle stuff on the lower intake since it looked like poop.

Every time I see something like this I just think to myself “one less ferrari in circulation”. To me it is the voluntary equivalent of totaling the car.
