    Excuse the ignorance but, why aren't steering apparatus's in planes circular, like cars? GLWS, beautiful looking plane.

    That is a good question. I assume it is because planes require less input than a vehicle.

    My guess is weight. Why have extra material, when it is not needed. You don't have to corner like in a car, so you don't need more surface area for control.
