Superformance headers

Hey, i have not seen them posted or mentioned on this section . So after careful consideration, i took the plunge and bought a pair of stainless 2.7s Image Unavailable, Please Login . Very pleased with quality and the look.
So for your enjoyment, or not, here's a picture.

 

very nice. looks very good quality.

didn’t realize they offererd full aftermarket option.

thought it was a rebuilt service but last i remember it says not available.

 

They look nice but a heat sheild would be nice. (Like Tubi)

 

They look great. Maybe some swain coating.

 

Or maybe not (like fabspeed). Or maybe the choice of ceramic coating if inclined.
For every ones information, UK prices for the 3 systems are.
Tubi = £4000-£4600
Fabspeed= £2700-£3500
Superformance =£2200
Import taxes,vat and the weak pound means prices are so high here, for both fabspeed and tubi.
Superformance headers are made here so are around 60% less than the imported ones.

 

They look close to the OEM construction. Wonder whether the OEM heat shields would fit over them?

I doubt it... the tube lengths are different, you can see it clearly with cylinder #7 and it could be an illusion but overall they look thicker the tubes are not packed down quite as tight as the oem. Good looking bits I would swain coat them or what ever the UK version of that is.

Agreed, very ugly, but brutally effective. Way better than fried alternator and failed engine mounts...

 

I'd really like to see if the OEM shields fit, even with a little mod. From the pictures I posted it's hard to tell due to the different angles of the photos. Basic layout looks similar and I would think that they would have kept the tube length the same or it would change the tune. Maybe Bill will check it when he does the swap.

Could be but I wouldn't bet on it Dave. Camera angles do funny things. If the tube length is different then the headers really need to be dyno tested.

 

It's not camera angles, John. I can see plenty of differences. The OEM shields are a very tight fit.

 

Inconel shields. Nothing works as well evev blankets.

 

The stock shields would not fit. The design is much different and there’s only about an eighth inch of insulation between the tubes and outer shields.

Not really liking some aspects of these but better than melted headers if this is your only option.

Loose the ugly shields

Hi, have you got photos showing the flanges and the intake to the collectors?

 

Dont really know what your asking for that the pictures dont show.
While the thread has been resurrected, here's an up date.
They have been on the car for almost two years, they look as fresh as the day they were fitted. There is very little extra additional heat from the naked pipes in the bay or anything melting in the localised area as so many fear with naked pipes be it custum or the likes of fab speed.
Of course heat shields were made to protect engine mounts and any pipe/wires in the manifold area, but very little shields was used.
I will try and give you another running report this time next year.
