Was driving a Stradale the other day and the guage cluster stopped working. The only thing that was illuminated on the dash was the gear selection display. about 30 minutes later, that display went out and then the car would not shift past second gear. I recently read that a guy with a 430 had a similar situation, but I don't know if or how the problem was resolved. Otherwise the car runs perfect. Any suggestions?

Michael- A 2 MB chip in the instrument panel runs the warning lights and other indications on the panel, including the gear indicator. First check for loose connections to the instrument cluster. It can be removed fairly simply if you search for "yellow tachometer" in the 360/430 forum and follow those directions. If nothing simple like that, call FAI and they may be able to help you trouble-shoot. They can also repair your cluster, including replacing the chip or whatever else is wrong with the cluster. They fixed instrument panel fire damage and changed the odometer setting to match that of my car in a Superamerica cluster I picked up for my 575M.

    hi Taz,

I also experienced the same problems with my F430.
After i turn ignition on position II, wait about a few minutes, but all instrument panels & meters not displaying any infos even speedo, odo, multifunction display & gear display. Only the needle lights background turned on. I started engine & then drive. All went OK but while driving, only can shift up to 2nd gear. I thought is this has something to do with the cluster's fuse or drained auxiliary battery or something?
How to overcome this issue? Appreciate ur tremendous advise & expertise.

Not being able to shift past 2nd is usually an F1 problem, often a potentiometer, but in this case it sounds like it is related to your instrument panel. Give FAI a call and see what they say.

Not being able to shift past 2nd is normal if the cluster is not working.
The cluster generates a speed signal which is used by the TCU to know the speed of the gearbox secondary shaft. Without a valid speed signal, the TCU allows only to shift to 2nd.

I would suggest to check fuses #7 and #14 in the front trunk.

    U mean these 2 fuses?

Thanks. But i was wondering what was the relation between these 2 fuses which caused instrument panels not displaying any infos & limiting gear shifts up to 2 ?

Sorry, I thought it was for a 360.
For a 430, check fuses #AF09 and #AF15 on the picture you posted.

I had checked & replaced AF09 & AF15 with new fuses (in same rating).
Insert keys in position II, wait a few minutes. Still, the instrument panels were dark.
Start engine, it can only shift to 2nd gear max.

Again, it's normal that you cannot shift past 2nd if your instrument panel is not working.
Have you checked with a DVM that power supplies +30 (12V from battery) and +15 (12V after key switch) are present on the fuses.
Next step would be to check that power supplies +30 and +15 are reaching cluster connector.
