    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone were able to order new 488 with minimal # of options or even base without any options? I have heard Ferrari wont take your order unless you add a lot of options?

All I need is metallic paint, rims and red interior.

    thank you.

it's more about your AD. they would worry about you are not taking delivery of the car or hard to resell

My 488 had only few options (about € 10K) and in spite of that I got one of the first delivered (September 2015) - things could have changed; anyway I do not think Ferrari is taking orders for 488 anymore...

Why not get a slightly loved car a year or two old with lots of options as the prices have come down quite a bit on the 488. Relative bargain for the amazing car that it is. Besides, as was stated previously, you cannot order a 488 anymore as they are moving on to other models.

I actually dont like majority of options and I dont understand why some people add 100k of options to a 250k car. They are mostly cosmetic not performance options. I have watched a video where an owner had a 100k paint option, which is insanely wasteful regardless how rich you are.

I think the car looks fine without any options.

I was offered one at Ferrari Orlando some time back with zero options.

People spend money how they please. I personally would not want a zero option car, and I don’t judge anyone who wants to spend 0 or 100k on options.

Easy to add $60,000 in non-cosmetic options (no CF, standard color, etc.) and worth every cent.

Correct Kirk, I sat in one last year …

We don't want that imo: even the seats had to be adjusted by hand  ...

Just ordered my own 488, don't know about spider but for the coupe/GTB allocations in the US are just about gone unless you can snag one of the last ones (I think they all locked already)

I thought I was going to spec only 10-20k worth of options as well. Walked out with a Porsche Macan in options with just about no interior/exterior CF... it adds up very easily

This was noted to me as well in my speccing experience. GM noted for those God forbid moments I can back out of the car, but we made sure nothing was obscure/missing from the build as much as I hope and pray that never happens

Unless you are dead set on a new spec if you can find the allocation this is the way to go

x2 - for this kind of money for me I was not going to settle. There were many must have options for me (shields CF led racing seats etc)

Perhaps this is a good forum to ask why anyone would opt for the $7,000 CF steering wheel, with the blinking lights.
Shouldn't a true sports car enthusiast learn from the engine noise and car feel when to change the gears (like we used to do with good old fashion mechanical (non paddle) gear shifters?
Why need blinking lights to tell you (dangerous to look down at the steering wheel while having acceleration fun, no)?
Observation tells that there is actually only a very small amount of CF on the wheel.
    Am I missing something?

Sammy don't keep us in suspense; what color combination for paint and interior did you choose?

How is your new 488? Is it delivered yet? I assumed you didn't spec the "blinking light" option. How did that work out for you?

Yes, quite a bit actually. First of all, they are not blinking lights, but rather progressive LEDs. Their position allows the engine rpm to be effectively monitored simply using one’s peripheral vision. Think of it as a HUD. The 488 revs so quickly, a traditional tach is just too difficult to monitor under extreme driving conditions.

As far as the price is concerned, it’s not about the CF at all. Many here, myself included, ordered our cars with the LED wheel option, but opted to have it finished in all leather instead. The price is what it is. I believe the LED wheel is ranked within the top three must have options, which potentially bears some consequence on resale. My $0.02!

Don't want to hijack OPs thread but check it out here :) Couldn't keep it a secret because everyone was so damn helpful, and I wanted a lot of input for my first Ferrari. Just watching 488 YouTube videos to bide the time but also trying to forget about it lol. Going to be a long wait until June..

Thanks, Viperjoe for that erudite explanation and no ill will to all others out there who took the option.
Been reading elsewhere, in particular a writer who mentions that he turned his LEDs off (he had bought a used 458).
I simply can't imagine taking my eyes off the road so often to look at the steering wheel in order to know when to switch the gears. I wonder too if its popularity has to do with 'peer pressure.'
As I don't make purchases based on their resale value potential, I'm guessing that the 488 will be a long time keeper.

I ordered the wheel with the blinking lights (my 599 has it as well, so I have used it). You asked why anyone would need it, nobody does. But also nobody needs a Ferrari, we just really want them. The wheel is the same, it is semi functional - but mostly just fun. :)
