This is contradictory. Ferrari putting themselves in an advantageous position with the bonus, as agreed in their contract, isn't unfair and its not a privilege ....its smart business.
Wow the Red Bull... I don’t want them to cause problems for Ferrari however I do hope they fixed the vibrations. PS; McLaren couldn’t figure out to add two stupid bars?!?! Lolol, I kid. I kid.
If Williams can't shave 3 or more seconds off their times of today, by next Tuesday, then they might as well drop out of F1 and go into another line of work.
I guess those two new bars on the back of the Red Bull were put there just for the heck of it, for fun, ohhh maybe they’re wheelie bars !!!
PF1 Conclusions from testing - https://www.planetf1.com/news/five-conclusions-from-the-first-winter-test/
https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/pirelli-data-ferrari-advantage-testing/4342194/ Pirelli suggests Ferrari is .5 ahead of anyone so far. Did they do a prediction like this last year as well? Or is this the first time?
I dont recall a specific Pirelli statement but this was in the PF1 article I linked -Since 2014, Ferrari have topped a whopping 19 winter timesheets
I find the statement more interesting...I don't really care for topping the timesheets in testing, it doesn't say a whole lot. From trackside it really seems that Ferrari have the upper hand here, and I genuinely can't recall a pirelli statement pointing out that one team specifically is X amount ahead of everyone in the last few years...Now if they did, I'd like to see it so we can see how accurate it was. I'm hoping there was one.
Keep in mind the cool ambient temperature during test week. The temperatures at testing are lower than those at every race venue, it will be interesting to see how RBR/TR's tight packaging does in 30+ degrees C race conditions.
Here’s how I know that Merc are sandbagging and are completely confident they have the dominant car... Because Toto keeps saying otherwise. I’m glad for the most part that everyone at Ferrari is just going about their business and not playing the tired mind games. Maybe they got their act together this year are more serious about winning then they are about being Ferrari.
toto playing mind games is old news. As stated above Ferrari are focused on the job at hand-maybe they just needed a pure technical guy to lead the team in lieu of a business or PR person.
We will see. But whilst I am delighted it looks as if Ferrari have a good car, I haven't forgotten that they had a good car last year and between the team's tactical errors and Vettel's driving errors, contrived to throw the championship away. So even if their car is a bit quicker than Mercedes and Red Bull (and a way to go before we really know how things stack up) they need to get the things right that they so conspicuously got wrong last year before there's a proper fight for the title.
I don't think they have quite half a second but 2-3 tenths would not surprise me. Mercedes have a very large update for their car next week. MB might have been playing everyone this first wee which is sort of a terrifying thought as the car as-is is indeed very quick.
Until Q3 in Melbourne is when the rubber will the road. We will know for certain, what teams were full of poop... Until then its just all speculation, although fun to speculate
+ the question is why they feel the need to comment that? Being the supplier to all teams I wonder why they risk any bad blood by giving such a statement...
We do have new parts coming for the first race. [But] we can't really rely on that being an upgrade. That was Botas, do we have anything else on the “very large upgrade” referred to by Ferraripilot above ?
I think an innocent comment but it is interesting that they were direct in their assessment. I guess we are all fans and can have an observation so can Pirelli.
I don't think Pirelli has said anything. Re-read the title of the article...."Pirelli DATA SUGGESTS Ferrari .5 seconds ahead". The article goes on to apply Pirelli's approximate time deltas between the tire compounds to come up with theoretical best times. It's all speculation by journalists, nothing official.
I do not think it is intentionally if true as well but I think Pirelli is far more than just us fans.... That sounds more realistic.
