2 BAE Hawk Planes Down in India: Surya Kiran Air Demo Team

The Indian air demonstration team were presenting a show when two of the planes collided. One plane carried one pilot, the other carried two crew. The two-man crew survived, the single plane's pilot did not. Here is video.

Glad at least one crew was able to eject.

 

Here is clearer video. The collision is shown in the first minute of video. Caution, the audio is too loud and overdramatic.

 

I'm no pilot but it looks like the one felt he could save the aircraft. It looks like he gathered it up but pointed near straight down hill and low.

 

I think the other guys knew right away they were in a dead aircraft.

 

Single pilot plane lost it's nose (and pilot?)... folded back at 180 degrees.
Dual pilot lost its vertical stabilizer... 2 chutes.

 

Hard to see when they got out but I thought it was the other way around.

 

There's no cockpit left on the plane that 'lost' the nose... don't think the pilot could survive that.

 

Good gosh this air show turned out to be a calamity.
