It looks only slightly different than a 488, disappointing.
I totally forgot about those cars, thank you for reminding me. Monza SP1 and 2 is GORGEOUS! I love them, design is pure art. Clean lines and a temporary quality that will age well and be icons in the future. They got that Pininfarina vibes, and I think they both are a solid hint on what's coming in the future a long with the J50 and SP-models. So I personally hope this kind of simpleness and contemporary design will be adopted to mainstream models as well. What we know so far is that Ferrari is working on a mainstream GT right now, with design over aero in focus. I refuse to believe that Ferrari are forced to do agressive design due to aero. That thing can be done with beauty as well. Seeing the F8, I think Ferrari Design is moving back to the right paths again, after a few years of being lost design wise. This is all my opinion, and I'm open to the fact that people like different things and styles. Well... I can't wait to check out the F8 my self. I like it
@gt_lusso "Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre, the F8 Tributo is essentially a bridge to a new design language that will continue to emphasise Ferrari’s key characteristics of high performance and extreme aerodynamic efficiency" The way I read it is that we will see more aggressive-looking and aero-driven designs in the future.
And you're right. I'm not denying that a new F-car is the best F-car, handling and driving wise. F430 feels old compared to 488 for sure, as well as the 458 in my opinion, but it just feels so special. The sound, the quirkyness of the car, and not too much horsepower. I think Ferrari should make a drivers car with less hp, less weight and less tech. They probably won't, as their ethos is to build the best of the best. But I am alowed to dream
I think it will be the opposite. My guess is that all their upcoming lines of cars will have their own unique style and quality, and not the same design langage going through every single car. Of course there will be a strong Ferrari-DNA going through all of the future cars, but my guess is V8 BB being more agressive and cutting edge tech/space ship looking agressive style car, while the V6 will be a more classic looking thing with simpler design. Then we have the upcoming GTs, both V8 and V12 that will have their own theme. That's my guess.
Totally agree with your last sentence. Aero though has certain requirements. The two Monzas are not supposed to be track monsters (which is hilariously ironic, given that they are named after one of the greatest racing tracks in the world!!!), thus they can afford to sacrifice aero in favour of the retro looks. Not happening with the mainstream models though; these have to remain relevant performance-wise.
I have a 488 and 4C and could not agree more. I love my 4C. Almost enjoy driving it more than the 488 - almost. I would get rid of the 488 in a heartbeat for the car you describe. I was discussing this with the GM of the Ferrari dealership I use. He said they have been begging Ferrari to make the car you describe.
It's going down the Countach syndrome. Start with a clean design then keep adding angles and scoops and more stuff. The 458 is gorgeous. This one is not bad looking but it's not pure, doesnt flow. I like it but i would take a 458 over it.
I have a strange soft spot for the 25th Anniversary Countach but agree with your view.I guess the old advice of buy the first or last version of any model still holds true.
I love driving my 4c! I drive that little car hard and it's a blast. I love how the steeering feel loads in in your hands in the corners. You can really feel the tires biting and fighting back. And the car is so nimble and controllable. It's a pain to get in and out of though!
I don't love the front, but love the rear. Overall pretty superb. Can't wait to see the racing version.
I to have been suggesting Ferrari should build a smaller lighter model. However each new introduction showcases a continuation of the large heavy complicated cars that Ferrari has become addicted to as they follow along after the competition.
Lol. Respect what you said here. But I guess that is really what they say here - beauty is in the eyes of beholder here. I honestly think F8 does not look anything more Ferrari than the child of Huracan HP and Pista, with the rear transplant from something else. Which is why when the car is in really dark color, it looks so much better because it hides those two black things under the tailights. They are not even vents. What are those things!? Hey don't get me wrong, I hope it gives me a different feeling if I see it in flesh. Onto other note, Ferrari, if you are reading this, please have pininfarina back.
I've mixed feelings. I do not like interiors cause they are too similar to 488 and 458. They have done a good job in restyling the car but, finally, it is a 2009 project updated twice. Moreover I'm afraid trunk will be half size of 458/488 one. This is a problem for me cause i use trunk a lot. After 458 and 488 I'm still not sure to order the F8.
So true. Had a weekend in a Cayman GT4 - WOW what a car!!. I "nailed" my buddy in his 675LT through the corners and yes he pulled away on the straights - guess who had more "smiles per mile" and who really was on the edge. HP, CF, interior are really silly discussions other than on the track IMO
okay thanks for letting me know. Anytime 'most' disagree with me I know Im on the right track as the masses are usually wrong.
Any idea on when these will be available for order? What's the typical time frame between announcement and allocations being handed out?
