Ferrari F8 Tributo

Since yesterdays presentation I like the new F8 Tributo more and more but I still can't say it's more beautiful than the 488 or 458. I need to see more pictures and the car in real life. But what wonders me is that Ferrari can make really beautiful and elegant models like the SP1 and SP2 and then Ferrari comes with this. Are there two different design teams working at Ferrari? I think so ...

I wish I was more like you guys. My SO tells me I'm wrong all the time. In fact, I don't think I've ever been right. :/

 

The interior which was announced new would have deserved some actual work IMHO, just keeping the 458/488 one and replacing the integrated air vents by out-of-place circular ones borrowed from the V12 cars is not an impressive effort.

 

PISTA all day long and twice on Sunday....

 

I don't like the circular vents. I prefer the old style. Exterior is good I like it.

 

In my view the front end looks great but the rear end is a real add on after thought. It rather reminds me of the final facelift they did on the Lotus Esprit when they replaced the original oblong rear lights with a pair of round lights it just did not work. As to the interior what are the pair of 'big eyes' for? Not a good effort at all.
From a technical point of view I would assume it is a basic mod to the engine to achieve the extra power. I cannot imagine they are using the racing icanel parts used on the Pista on a mainstream car. I would assume the power increase is to compensate for the EGPF that will have to be added to meet euro and china emissions. It will be interesting how it will sound as EGPF absolutely kills the exhaust sound. This is proving a massive issue for other Super Car manufacturers with them all looking at ways of trying to synthetically produce a good exhaust sound. If you think turbo charging causes an issue with exhaust sound it is nothing compared to EGPF.

 

The F8 is the new F512M.

I wasn't very taken with the Pista when I saw it in person, it somehow looked better on paper to me, I think the F8 has a much nice looking front, the back looks great in renderings but not so great in actual live pictures.

For me the problem for the Pista is this isn't a new car, the 488 was for most purposes a new car over the 458, there was enough different to call it as such, this, well mechanically not much has changed over the Pista so to me at least there anything enough air between the Pista and this.

 

Why? Did he/she share information they weren't supposed to?

 

Now that I look at both, I think it's much better looking than the PIsta.

Shack yes that GT4 was pushing hard amongst fast company therefore agree the whole HP, CF thing becomes somewhat meaningless in the majority of scenarios.

F8? I was impressed at first sight of the photos but after sleeping on it and looking again I would agree the dash is very very fussy and the tail rather displaced however, will leave final judgement for when I see it in the flesh!

And to those here suggesting Pista owners will be now hurting? That's just wishful thinking going on there. But, if F8 is your only choice because of no Pista allocation then be happy as F8 will be a great drive even if it doesn't hit the heights on the design charts.

 

I actually love the F512M. I simply mean they stick a new front and back on the 488 and don’t touch the doors or intake. Yes I know the black splitter in the intake is different but still the sides of the F8 is basically the same. It’s obviously a transitional model as the F512M was.

Honestly the Corvette looks pretty good, especially the actual Z06 model. I like the Fate, I think the back looks cool. And I'm not a Mclaren fan.

Unfortunately I'm also not in the market for a V8.

Initial post was a very well put together synopsis of new model info on F-chat but he got a bit "over exuberant" after that to extent deemed abusive by moderator.
Hopefully he will be back to contribute in a more "considered" manner.

Can't imagine why as I thought it was interesting if you concentrated on the facts and rational opinions.
