V6 will replace f8, so should compete with 720 or equivallent - Ferrari bas no intention to compete in thé lower market of thé 570.
Good one...by the time the V6 is released, the 720 replacement will already be out; likely destroying it.
The V6 will be a clean sheet design though, so Ferrari could do what they wish in terms of performance; my guess is that it may be be a closer call with the contemporary McLaren than the situation between 488 and 720 (where Mc had the advantage of the last move, and probably surprised Ferrari). Btw when the V6 will be released, the 720 replacement will have been already replaced twice, most probably
The McLaren super series had the 12c from 2011 to 2014. Then they did a face lift to the. 650 in 2015 and 2016. 2018 onwards is the 720. 458 went from 2010 to 2015. Then they did the 488 from 2016 to 2019 and then the F8 facelift. Both have had 3 cars in the same amount of years. McLaren did a facelift early in the cycle. Ferrari is doing it later in the cycle. But both companies have released the same number of cars in the segment.
Especially in the ugly looks department. McLarens are hideous, sorry. Their interiors look like something you would see in a Corolla.
I don’t know why there is so much on this thread about McLaren. I have no issue with McLaren and think its presence is a welcome competitive force for Ferrari - but this is FerrariChat and I don’t come here to read about McLaren. They must have their own forum where this could go... Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I believe most of us would like to see more from Ferrari than another retooled 458 after almost 10 years so then naturally there is a comparison to other cars in the class. This is still very much a Ferrari thread.
I for one am glad for the F8. It was going to be a facelift and we all knew that. Why all the moaning about that? It gives the rest of us a chance to decide if we want to hang on to the old V8, go with the new V8 hybrid or simply wait for the more affordable V6 hybrid. Ferrari has changed things in the past and will continue to do so. There was a time when the only proper Ferrari was a V12. Now the argument is whether a proper Ferrari is NA. Or V6. Or Hybrid. The brand will change. Whether in a way we like or not, the entire automotive industry is changing. I’m in the camp that says enjoy what we have. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Any thoughts on this? Apparently its not the F8 and is a hybrid: https://www.instagram.com/supercarpress/p/BujwL3bDICZ/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1wq4fiwfou70w
I’m not sure I buy it as the car isn’t in the Ferrari booth. It’s appears to be in some other booth. I’m guessing a 488 in a tuner or modifier booth.
What the heck is going on now! V6 hybrid not V8?? What happened to BB? This sounds more like a Dino! https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.motor1.com/news/308216/ferrari-v6-hybrid-confirmed-2019/amp/
The article is correct. The rumors are that the new v6 mid engine (NOT the F8) will be unveiled this year.
We have heard the new BB engine is already being built on the motor assembly line. We have heard nothing about a V6 motor being ready to go yet. That is supposedly a year away in the future... Also you want to start small to work the kinks out with a production run of BB before you attempt to flood the market with V6 car builds!!!!!
We'll know 3 months from whether this V6 story is confirmed - for me it wouldn't make sense, but Ferrari may surprise me after all...
If I am running a publicly traded company, I want a technologically advanced product that is available to more people and can therefore make the brand more accessible and more profitable. That would be a V6 hybrid...around 10,000 units per year. The 488 traditionalists still have the F8 which will be as performance oriented as the Pista. The BB may be important to the brand to show what they are capable of but how many stockholders really care about a car which will sell in the hundreds per year. I think people are becoming a bit more practical and wouldn’t want a 600k car to stick into a garage. Especially, something that really has little to no value as an investment. Therefore bring on the V6 and keep your BB.
Tend to agree the 488 replacement will have TT v6/Hybrid. That tech is the future. Aston will sell all 500 of it's TT V6/Hybrid AM RB 003 at around $ 1.2-1.3 million USD each no problem.
I'd be curious to see the positioning of a V6 in parallel to the F8... if it's introducing a lower segment, it contradicts the official claims; if not, it may be a hard sell - or if has enough advantages, it will - best case - cannibalise the F8.
