Pininfarina did a great job hiding all of the aero and cooling within the general shape of the car. Every iteration post-458 Italia has eschewed all of that for more and more conspicuous ‘function’.

I think history will judge what went before the current turbo-era and what came after it - in other words, naturally aspirated up to 458, and hybrid turbo starting with Big Brother - to be higher than the rather messy transition product that was the 488, F8 etc. Not sure the "last of" will carry much value in the case of the F8.

I agree. The Pista in both body styles should ultimately become collectors cars but not this F8. They could not have made it less special. It's just going to be another used car. Heck it's already recycled.

To make this car more special and give it "revolutionary" design would not make sense, as this is a transitional model. Why should Ferrari spend tons of money developing a car that only has 2 years maximum of production time? I totally get what people say and that it should look more special and unique since this is tha "last" hurrah from the V8-line. But from an economical point of view it doesn't make any sense. V8 BB-launch in may or later this year, will give us what we are looking for. Something totally new and fresh, nothing like whe have seen before.

Oh, and I don't think this will be tha last non V8 hybrid Ferrari. You never know what the politicians are up to, they are the one who set the rules for car makers, and the rules change all the time. Just look at the 70s and the oil crisis. People thought cars would never be the same again. BOOM, then the 90s and early 2000 came, and cars had bigger engines than ever.

    But, that's another discussion.

You could be right. One of the designers accidentally hit the F8 key and it put the ass of a ... onto a 488....and it went into into production before anyone could stop it. The rest is now history hence being named tribute to the teams biggest cock up.

Yes I was not implying that they should have done a “revolutionary” or mega costly redesign.

But how about as good as the Pista.
Or how about even ... half as good as the Pista? How about something actually cohesive. This car will be made in higher production numbers than the Pista and is just as significant in its own right.
A good styling job would have
    cost no more than this
    ham-fisted patchwork.
    It deserved better.

Well...I just went back to browse through our reactions in both threads on this forum regarding the F8. If you count the subjective postings, one quickly realizes that this car is generally a flop. Most of us don't like it; few of us somewhat accept it; and further few love it.

The true test of result is public opinion; and so far, the public opinion in a Ferrari enthusiast group is ho-hum for this new release. This likely is sheer sign of an unsuccessful model. Just imagine...TEN YEARS of this platform...shame on you Ferrari.

Well, they should have simply discontinued this line, launched the BB already and priced it at $350K and not worried about some V6 variant down the road. Problem-solved and the world reception of a true 488-replacement would have been well-received.

I could seriously respect your opinion if you own both. So I was simply laughing at your ignorance because you formed your opinion after you drove the lotus "at anger". And I own both lotus evora 400 and 458 and have a very good comparison on a personal basis.

7/10 is hardly success on a Ferrari forum...note many of those votes are those that believe Ferrari is king....no matter what; clear bias. STILL, only 70%...that's definitely not a success in my opinion.

    7/10 is just that..."ho-hum"

Simply put the 488 is the better design. Original, authentic and very function over form styling.

The F8 looks like some kit car or a cheap body kit on a 488 at a Sema show. Huge miss.

Owning something says absolutely nothing to me. Being an expert driver and judge, does. It would be silly if I pretended to know more about my E-Type than a specialised Jaguar mechanic, no? ;)

Regarding the F8's looks, this forum cracks me up. It's Groundhog Day every time a new Ferrari is launched. When the F12 was unveiled, people cried murder and blamed that "uterus"-like rear end. When the 812 was launched, the same people said that it had lost the elegant design of it's forbearer. Not even Aristophanes could have been this hilarious...

You didn't pretend to know more about your E-type than a Jag mechanic. You just pretend you know about Lotus Evora 400 when you don't even own one. If you do, I'd apologize.

Why do people comment on something that they don't even have to such personal and deep extent in public forum really is beyond my understanding.

And you just keep going at it! Didn't you read what I wrote, since you showed off your greek?

    Don't bother to reply because I won't.

Let's go back to F8, shall we?

It is a rare occurrence when a new car is highly regarded when it is first released, especially after a successful predecessor. Remember the reactions to the 430, 458 and the 488?

My main concern lies with the very short life cycle. Why trade in my 488 and take a $100K haircut only to have the pleasure to do it again in 2 years. Did that with the 458, not again. Ferrari has to realize this might happen so why do a minor refresh and only match the HP of their upcoming competitor? Where is the incentive to buy the F8? Heck, by the time the first deliveries arrive I bet MAC will already have another model that exceeds the F8.
