I was not relieved to see the F8 since the fiercer the competition among super car manufacturers , the better the cars developed with enthusiasts being the beneficiary.

The current crop of super cars are stellar yet offer differing personalities , driving dynamics and aesthtic appeal.

I have no doubt the performance level will continue to vastly improve mostly due to the intense competition that has developed between Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren.

Presently, all 3 are indulging in refreshes with modest performance upgrades. The real action will be happening in 2-3 years. Exciting times.

"The F8 Tributo is a 488 Pista for the common man" Road and Track.

    They have a point :

Almost impossible to get a Pista allocation.
F8 expected to be nearer priced to the 488.
Doubt anyone will be able to tell the difference on normal roads.Maybe F8 more comfortable.
On track the Pista will be sharper IF you are capable of driving at that level.99.9% aren't.
Pista destined to sit in a garage, not on the road much at all.

This discussion would be much more informed if we knew the price of the F8. If the price is an incremental increase (say 3%), its hard to fault Ferrari for giving its clients a refresh, while enjoying the economy of maintaining the bulk of the 488's engineering and tooling. However, if it is a significant increase (and my dealer, as of yesterday, told me it would be very significant) then things could get ugly. Incremental product improvement = good thing. Reheating the leftovers and charging gourmet prices = bad thing. The shareholders may love it in the short term. Long term, however...

I like this new car's styling a lot. I wasn't a huge fan of the 488 and although this is just a revamp I think they did a great job of it. If I could afford one I might actually buy it (haven't said that of a new Ferrari in a while).

The part I like the best is that with each new V8 model they release, the 458 will theoretically depreciate even further...that's a car I've grown to like quite a bit, much more than either the 488 or the F8 Tributo.

As for future models, I'm hoping the V6 hybrid they will eventually release will have a smaller overall footprint...shorter wheelbase, yes, but also narrower! I'm sick of 78 inch wide (or more) cars. They looks like tanks to my "vintage friendly" eyes.

It's more an at-a-glance thing. When you look at the detail, you can see it's clearly different ... but with a casual look, I think it will be mistaken by the general masses quite a bit.

dayum, the seats from the scud still lives on after 11 years. Did Ferrari not sell enough F12s and portofinos that they had to reheat all the leftovers?

Let’s not kid ourselves here there is going to be a huge price increase, you can take that to the bank.

it's very funny to learn so many complaints about the new Ferrari mid engine "base" model top power. "Just 720"... Huracan stops at 640 and McLaren "base" mid engine car has 570 (or 540, I don't even remember, so much I'm interested into a Mc Laren..).

For the ones "power is never enough", Ferrari is testing on the bench a 3.0 liters V6 with more power than the new F8 3.9 liters V8 (and then you have to add the electric module additional power...).

Ferrari choosed to keep the engine response ultra low, so the turbochargers are optimized for that "no lag" fast response. It means you have to pay something as top rpm mass flow (means top power), but you have a fantastic power output and driving pleasure: you have the Huracan engine immediate response with 80 hp more. Does this happen with McLarens?

It beats me too. Or driven just one time and call the ultimate decision on it as if they own the cars. Some people love doing that. I guess this is how some people try to feel relevant.

No one have any idea how F8 drives and please stop comparing it to some other cars you dont even own. It's just plain silly. We of course can chat all we want on the looks, and the product cycles and future of Ferrari.

I’m pretty sure F8 will be faster and with a better handling. But do we need it? I mean who takes 488 to its limits? I really don’t.
I would have preferred new interiors and new design with same engine and handling. But this is personal cause I’m not a track guy.

488 is not Ferrari’s base model. Portofino is.

It’s one thing to compare numbers of a car. F8 has x hp. Mclaren has y hp. Porsche has a hp. By all means do the comparison and comment on whether x y or z horsepower is good, bad enough or not enough.

But when these comparisons evolve into because F8 must be great that must automatically make mclaren bad. Is it possible that maybe, just maybe the 488 is great, the F8 is great and the mclaren is great?

This is not a zero sum game. Just because one manufacturer makes a great car doesn’t mean another manufacturer must by default be terrible. Both can make great cars.

So by all means if you want to compare and contrast horsepower and other data between car manufacturers by all means do so. But stop with the my car rules and yours sucks. It’s so freaking childish.

it's the mid engine base model, of course: Mc Laren and Lamborghini haven't a Portofino competitor in their production range.

Most think the front of the GTB is awesome too so.. It's that rear end that is more the concern at the moment, as is the weird **** going on inside with those vents.

If somebody can come up a aftermarket rear that is consistent with the front design , I'd buy it.
