Is your GT3 a manual/Touring? Those seem to have more old school character.

Manual because it is so much fun. U get the best of both worlds - modern tech (rev matching, flat shifting) and old school (heel n toe) - when on track I use the modern tech to aid me but just old fashion heel n toe on rd ;)

With modern cars becoming a crazy power race with auto transmission, the simple pleasures of just driving a car that communicates to u, sings to u, seems to be lost to going faster and faster but being flattered by the computer controlling a lot of the driving for u. So I can totally relate to how u would miss ur 997. I much prefer taking out my air cool Porsche’s when on rd because they are just so much fun and leaving my gt3 and 488 for track fun when I can push it to near the limits of my ability without worrying about going to jail...

More and more car guys (and gals) are echoing this sentiment.
Wonder how many manufacturers have the balls to listen and act.
Porsche seems to “get it” more than many.
Alfa, Lotus, Japanese...also seem to understand at a lower price point.
Ironic..lower price point cars might be the new “in...fun car.”

Just to follow up on the Japanese...both of my teenage sons have Subaru WRX’s with manual transmissions. They used their B-day monies to buy modded exhausts...go like scolded rats!
Huge JDM world out there, Instagram, social media...young “car guys/gals” love those modded Japanese cars....true enthusiasts.
Some bigger name brands should send “spies” out there to look, listen, and learn (they likely do).

I come from there. Built a brand new SW20 MR2 from new parts ( about the cost of a cheap Italia ) engineered a Rotrex Supercharger against all others that slapped on a Turbo. Instant response 500 Hp . Absolutely fantastic. Do miss the manual

That's not what everyone keeps telling me. Perhaps those saying a 488 sounds pathetic are just being pathetic.

When I finished my training, my first car purchase and reward to myself was a 350Z. Remember it being such a big deal at the time, JDM yo!

I have owned a dozen Porsches ranging from 993 Turbo manual to 997 C2S Cab manual to Turbo coupe and TTS CAB. Do not miss any of them. They are great DD, very capable BUT ultimately lacking aesthetic and driving excitement. No comparison to the 458 and the Performante is in a different world of thrills and sense of occasion.

There's been several news stories on the TTV6/hybrid being released this May based on the Alfa V6 called 486.

    http://www.thedrive.com/news/26889/ferraris-upcoming-v-6-hybrid-engine-could-produce-up-to-723-horsepower-report

    Might be BS

My comment was that I missed the involvement of the manual transmission compared to PDK. I was not making any comparison between Porsche and Ferrari/Lambo ownership but way to go in making that ridiculous extrapolation.

We all know from this forum and others that you take every opportunity to opine on your unrequited love for your Performante and why it is superior to all other models.

I own a Huracan but don't need to shove how great it is down everyone's throat.

Getting back to the "lack of driving excitement" many drivers miss the manual transmission and involvement manually shifting gears provides in daily driving.

Why are the GT3 touring/manual so popular? Because to many owners they provide a level of driver engagement that is missing among the plethora of DCT models offered on the market today.

Obviously the Italians provide aesthetics and theater unmatched by other marques.

However, your comment that the manual Porsches lack "driving excitement" would be refuted by the thousands of Porsche manual drivers who chose that transmission over PDK.
