After an exhaustive search for 90 days, I truly feel I have two strong candidates for my first F-Car purchase. Below are the basic details of both cars. Please me know which one you would go with and why

    Car 1
    2010 Italia Coupe
    16k miles
Loaded with about every option. Full carbon fiber package, nav, backup camera, Daytona seats, LED steering wheel, front lift, etc.
    Price - $165k

    Car 2
    2012 Italia Coupe
    9k miles
Basic interior, no carbon fiber. Basic steering wheel, non-LED non-carbon version. Does have Daytona seats.
    Price - $160k

I really am torn between the two. Just curious of opinions

I would make an offer on # 1 only because I do like the options. For me , LED ‘s , backup camera and shields are a must. I’m a fan of the Daytona seats and carbon interior as well. Good luck with your hunt and please keep us posted. By the way what are the color combos ?
    Best ,Kirk.

Both have been negotiated as low as I can get them. Both cars are red with black interior

Is 16k miles considered high mileage in the 458 world?

Go with Car #1, you will enjoy a more optioned car. There are no mechanical differences in the two cars - 2010 and 2012.

I sold my 2012 458 spider with 22,000 miles to my daughter’s boss Feb 2018 . As of today there have been zero issues with the car. Also I still like rig #1 best . I’m probably not the guy to ask on miles because I drive my cars quite a bit. 4800 miles on my 2018 488 spider since April last year.

Car 1 for me I love Carbon and the LED steering wheel is a must have.

I'd negotiate on car #1; it's got the right, or as many have said, must have options. And 2,000 miles/year is pretty much Sunday drives!

I bought a used, heavily optioned car, and as I drive the car more, I really appreciate the options. Who’d have thought heated seats in FL would be a desirable option? Ask my wife (yes, I like them too). And CF was never on my radar, but I’ve come to love the look of it. Folding mirrors? An absolute necessity for pulling into my tight garage.

If you’re going to drive the car (and you should!), the difference in mileage will eventually become moot. But you can’t replace missing options.

Car #1..... You need to negociate the price.... 16 K miles and 2010 you should be at a lower price. However, go with what you want and don’t worry about what others say. You are the one that needs to be happy....

this is your first ferrari, absolutely car #1. 2012 already ran out of free annual service (or maybe has 1 last one left), so the only advantage is really the lower miles. Do not get a stripped model, you will drive it all the time thinking the "could have"s...could have carbon, could have LEDs, could have shields, could have backup cam...etc. and you will hate it. Inside is what you look at most of the time driving, do not skip out on that

    Car 1 over car 2, or keep looking...car #3?

Which moves you? How long do you keep cars?
Paying cash ? Service records? Prior owners ?how many?

Are you asking a value question or community question ?

For me after 8+ Ferrari’s the options I desire are less cosmetic and more functional. I like the AFS and lifter, cameras and race seats. That’s for my drive, location, and body. Yours is likely different.

If your asking which will hold value if you keep for two years before trying something else, generally it’s the year, miles, and records which determine the value at ten years on. I stay away from higher miles from multiple owners. Miles in and of themselves are not a deal breaker. Others may disagree.

Buy one drive it and enjoy. Their is no wrong choice in the end. Both are reasonably priced. Below 160k there are usually stories or issues

    Drive it well

Hands down take option 1. CF really adds to the look and i'm glad mine has it every time i get in. Year and miles wont matter after you've had it a coupe of months and added miles yourself. I originally started looking at the same cars. Then my sales manager added "let me show you this one". I saw the Spider and i was hooked. Take a look at one, maybe you'll feel the same way. You can come up with a hundred ways to justify the price after seeing one. Best rash move i've ever made

    Josh,
I think Car 1 is a better choice given the options. You will appreciate the lift, backup camera etc and it’s a better resale when the time comes. Mileage is not a concern as these cars love to be driven and are finicky when they don’t get exercise. Good luck with your choice and have fun once you’ ve made it. Welcome to the addiction:)

Only to the Ferrari noobs. The issue with a 2010 is that it's a first year production for the 458, with many bugs yet to be sorted. I would normally start at 2011-2012 for peace of mind.

I might keep looking but considering the two, option 1 because of the options.

9 years later and the bugs aren't sorted? Which bugs are you speaking of?

I wouldn't worry about the first car being a 2010.
