I recently moved to Scottsdale full time and rarely take out my 458. Maybe once every week or 2. Come to my surprise I found a note in my mailbox the other morning. Couldn’t help but laugh and share...

It has to be someone old. I purposely drive extra slow to keep the rpms down and quiet too.

Doesn’t help having Fabspeed sport cats and a Novitec exhaust. Oh well. Can’t make everyone happy...

My neighbors are accustomed to it now, 10+ years of loud, obnoxious sports cars. :).

Oh man. My neighbor's bedroom is oddly close to my garage. He asked me yesterday if I'd taken the car out the night before. I sheepishly said yes, and then he responded "It sounded awesome man!". So, yeah, the other side exists too. :-D

Our best friends live in S'dale. But, I know it would not be them carping.
They'd be imploring you to rev it more.
Man, am I glad our neighbors are old and hard of hearing. :D

Meh, my position is, you're doing your best to idle out of the neighborhood, that should be enough.

Got an HOA in there? If so, expect your canky-ass neighbor to carp to them next.

Check your HOA agreement for a non-disturbance clause, lots have them. We do, and the ****** with the straight pipe Harley doesn't seem to pay it much mind.

However, if you have one and it's enforceable, then this guy could be a pain in your ass for the foreseeable future. :(

If no HOA, well, you're doing your best to be a good neighbor, more or less. :D

"YOU and your vehicle are a nuisance". Could have been worded much differently. You apparently also are incapable of respect to others. Maybe he's a psychiatrist?

Your neighbor has really poor resolution capabilities it seems. Maybe he has a legitimate concern about noise (we don't know the backstory), but to stick a passive aggressive and anonymous note in the mailbox will just antagonize without solving the problem.

If he has a problem he should approach you with his concerns, then you two can work something out. Not hide behind an anonymous note.

I don't envy you OP. It sounds like you have an unreasonable neighbor, and you'll have to deal with him again in the future. Don't be surprised when he complains that your lawnmower is too loud, or that your kids are too loud when they are playing the back yard.

One way to handle is to just drive out of your neighborhood in AUTO and sport mode. Then switch when out of their range.

Ignore him. I live in north Scottsdale and my garage faces my neighbors bedroom.

I’m alway cautious when I turn the car on or open the garage. I have a lift and sometimes need to turn the compressor on. I’m always careful and respectful and try to keep the Noise down.

But it’s a car. It’s gonna make noise. My neighbor is great and a car guy and I always get texts from him saying how awesome the cars sound when I pull out.

If you are doing your best- ignore this clown. Every neighborhood has one of these people. Had he come to you and respectfully stated his concern- different story. But to leave an anonymous letter? Meh is right!

You can ignore him if you’re lucky.

However, if you have an HOA then count on him filing a complaint.

Best to acquaint yourself with the HOA rules (if they apply) and the local noise ordinance. Chances are the city has a noise standard which is probably pretty restrictive. Like 10db over ambient. Which won’t help you.

Just be aware that this is the kind of **** that escalates very quickly and then you’d be required to deal with it!

    Best of luck!

That is hilarious. As already pointed out, the “neighbor” is just full of envy like many these days...

The handwriting is clearly from an older person.
They will perseverate on this issue. Plan on more notes. Unfortunately if you don’t have an hoa then the police may be next and can be anonymous.
The letter invokes others in their dissatisfaction and some discussion already. If you have an hoa that is bad. I suspect no because the neighbor would have likely gone their first instead of an anonymous note.

Without the backstory, might you have been less than perfectly quiet/slow driving in the neighborhood?

If so, perhaps demonstratively driving slow for the next period of time would be a peace offering.
I personally would check with your immediate neighbors to see if they have similar sentiment.

Clearly the way they handled this is imperfect. Don’t compound their mistake. Escalation may involve DMV measuring the decibels after a complaint. Can’t really hear well on the clips but clearly not stock.

This. I live in a very conservative neighborhood, and simply dial it down when inside the gates.

Thats exactly what I do. As soon as I am approaching the subdivision I slow dow to below the speed limit and make sure that I am keeping the RPM's well under the norm, almost idle in. Not to mention my house is the 5th house in so there aren't that many houses to pass anyways.

When push comes to shove, they will point out that your car is not stock and is modified post factory for greater sound. Maybe be careful.
