Anyone track their Pista yet?

Hi Pier, my guess is that we will have a track day for super cars on Apr. 26. But I can't confirm it now. It should be quite nice to have you here

 

This test was beaten to death on this forum, when it was published a few months ago.

 

Out of the 4 tracks that both cars were tested on, this was the only occasion where the Porsche was quicker. On the other three the Ferrari posted better laptimes.

Anglesey Costal: Pista 1:11.40, GT2 RS 1:12.01

It seems that the Pista is a better track weapon than the GT2 RS, don't you think?

 

For sure there are some guys that place far too much emphasis on reviews and times, spending time bragging and debating why their favorite is really faster than the other when they would be unable to produce anywhere near those times anyway themselves. The main concern should be that the car delivers the right sensations for the driver and is competitive enough without having to mess around with it too much.

 

I can't say yet until I personally drive Pista and evaluate which puts a bigger smile on my face... I will own both anyway so....won't really matter to me much. Selecting times to suit ones cause - times not run on same day by same driver are always inconclusive......not to be taken too seriously when 99% of owners cant extract the full potential of these cars anyway. Most important is the way it drives and stays reliable. That is the ultimate judge. Sometimes there is more to it than what meets the eye....

 

Silverstone with Oli james Webb driving the cars back to back:

Pista 1:09.47 (corsa tyres)
GT2 RS 1.08.54 (Manthey suspension, cup 2R tyres)
Senna 1.06.38 (trofeo R)

Pista on those tyres, surprisingly fast. Senna on it's tyres really quite slow.

 

Yes agree, and when you look at the HP, weight and engine placement difference the 2 is punching hard against the odds.

 

There definitely can. This is the second test to show how significant the gap is. In fact, Sport Auto tested the Cup2/Cup2R back-to-back and the Cup2 R was like 2s quicker.

The reality is that the Cup2 R is an insanely aggressive track day tire that really doesn't last very long and likely would be horrendous in even the slightest bit of rain. It's really not a street tire.

 

what a car the senna is. what do you think the next car to topple it off the throne will be? the valk/am003 or something even closer ?

 

It would be reasonable to assume that on Trofeo Rs, the Pista would be close to the Senna.

 

I don't know how much faster the Trofeo R's are but I think that's unreasonable truthfully. I think on Trofeo Rs under 1.08 is an easy target.

 

It's worth considering how short the track is. Lap times generally follow an exponential curve as you get faster and faster. I personally don't think a Pista can get anywhere near the Senna, but "near" becomes relative based on the track length and configuration. It's entirely possible that the seconds from 1:08-1:06 are way harder to achieve than 1:08-1:10.

 

Where did you get the Pista laptime from? so the Pista was on Corsa tires and not the regular Cup 2s?

 

From someone that was there. Verified. Don't know about tyre life on any tyre however.

 

I Was there, Pista Cup 2, Senna Trofeo R, GT2RS Manthey Cup 2 R, Performante Trofeo R, SVR Corsa.

Of course I can't comment about the details of this test and its fairness, but it proves my point Either Cup 2R tires are not as fast as many think like 2-3 sec or GT2RS is not that fast, definitely not faster than Pista or both.

 

The only 2 cars on non track tyres were the Pista & SVJ, the Pista was near on 2 seconds faster than the SVJ.

 

Corsa tyres are definitely not track, but Cup2 (even if not R) are track tyres - so between the Pista and SVJ, the difference is probably mainly on the tyres...

 

Nah? What the hell? When you go to the supermarket, you buy what you need, not the whole store, same as with this. Manthey offers a lot of things, and this car has the basic, not the whole thing. After the basic you can even have the kw competition and only then the aero kit. This car did not even had an hardcore setup much less the kw.

 

So you are saying that the car with the most traction (rear engine and massive wheel) lost to the others because of traction? Lol

 

That's quite wrong. Cup 2 r is pretty much a cup 2 with a slick like coat that when it goes becomes essentially a cup 2 tire that will last as any cup 2 tire. It deals with water as bad as any cup 2 tire with or without coat.

I really would like to see the times of the Pista on cup r, the gt2 rs on a proper tight track alignment, not the road and track one and an full gt2 rs mr with the kw and aero.

 

Talking about lap time and not drag racing, traction is not the most important factor - I believe lateral grip is, and that's where the tyres can make a significant difference, no matter how funny you think this statement is

 

Yes the proper Manthey 2rs is in a different league ... watch 7.40 and 10.50 - .....watch 11.02 says not just all the tyres (as some like to make out). Harris says the car already has more than enough power... also at 7.04 says fastest lap even on scrubbed tyres!
