I appreciate these are “asking” prices, however can someone please explain why anyone would choose a 355 over a 458. These are random vehicles. I hope no one here owns either. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1995-Ferrari-F355-Berlinetta-Manual/SSE-AD-5400995 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2011-Ferrari-458-Italia-Auto/SSE-AD-5777692
Wes probably because there were only around 1400 RHD of all the variants produced, the GTS being the least...In total around 10 K produced....I think the 458 is more than double plus they never produced a stick shift....Just ask Steve.....
Its an emotive decision, for some the 355 is more appealing, they sounds nicer, looks better and are the last of the "small" Ferrari berlinetta's. They have a manual transmission, no electronic driver aids and comparatively low production numbers. Technically and performance wise the 458 is far superior, but that not always the key criterion for buying a specifc model. Its no different with a 246 or early 911 - they are sought after and command high prices that similar to new Ferrari's or Porsche's. Depends what floats your boat.
Thank you. Interesting isn’t it. Moretti was fantastically generous to let me drive his 355 CH around Queensland Raceway, and it was the best car on a track I’ve ever driven. Not that there are that many mind you. [emoji846] I can certainly see the appeal, manual gearbox and they rev to buggery, it’s just that I thought the 458 was an instant classic when I first saw one and nothing has changed my outlook. Looking at 458 prices coming down just makes me have a little dream. Sigh. Can’t afford either of them unfortunately.
In the future the 458 will be fondly remembered as Ferrari's last N/A mid engine car and the Speciale is already the collectible one to "keep". The F8 will also earn a place as Ferrari's last IC (non hybrid) mid engine sports car, with the final, yet to be announced "speciale' F8 version the one to keep. From a desirabilty perspective , the 488 & Pista will be largely overshadowed by their succesor (the F8) and I think prices will reflect that in years to come.
I'd have a 458 over a 355 any day, so I understand your confusion, but it's exactly as Mike said...the fact that the 458 is a better car than a 355 has nothing to do with it.
Thanx for your concern Wes,yes completed this morn and he's on an aircraft and picking up from Marc today.

Aaaand, from the rumours I hear, Bull ****ten, has an "Inheritance Tax/Levy" on the agenda. I cannot get this confirmed or denied, so who knows. But more than a few have said the same thing. Anybody??? Joh got rid of death duties decades ago.
