I already got a NO for the second time!! I am an original 2006 owner that uses my GT, but it didn't help. Joe
I got my no e-mail as well. Time to enjoy what I have. Congrats to those that got awarded the golden ticket !
I hate to say this, but by the time you get a NFGT it will be behind the curve. Ford is in such deep do-do, will they even finish the total run. I will say I'm still loving the 05-06 car and went to look at one 2 weeks ago, now that prices are starting to get more realistic.
The new GT is a killer car. Its not going anywhere. They can't build enough of them. Ford would be stupid to chop it.
why wouldn't they? they've already sold out. they are in the enviable position of having demand that exceeds their manufacturing capacity...
Listen if we are honest, it is already behind the curve. I doubt it can keep up with a 2RS or a Pista. But it doesnt matter to most buyers, the car is absolutely gorgeous and different. And it was built as a race car from start and that makes it special. But it's also a car that has not really been updated spec wise since 2015 I think. That is a lifetime in terms of lap times. Iirc they had 7k applications for a 450k Ford, that should tell you something. Sure many were hoping to buy and flip but you still have a lot of people who want one to keep it for many years. I dont think Ford is in any do do..at least not with the GT program.
Yeah, they had 7K apps for a 450 production run. Do you believe they could have sold anything close to 7K cars. If they could, they probably should.
As i understand they are limited by the carbon chassis production right which is why they are only making 250/year. If they sold 7000 cars, then they would 2 decades to deliver all the cars or increase their production costs. The other issue is that at 7000, the car would no longer maintain its value on the 2nd market and people would not be that interested. There is a balance between the 1500 and 7000 though..
Agree Andrew. That's what I was referring to, the low production drives the want. People want exclusivity in their 500K toy and it's not to shabby either, but as I've stated before I can't love the styling.
I got notice yesterday that I got a NFGT allocation. Very psyched! 458 Spider and 488 owner, the Ford GT will be a great addition. I'll drive it regularly like my Fcars (put about 8K/year on them combined). I disagree that the NFGT is behind the times, they likely be revealing a new hybrid version like KERS shortly.
kers on nfgt?! wow I hadn't heard of that before. that would be impressive esp if beat Ferrari bb to market with it.
Ford is coming out with a Mustang SUV in about 10 months to go after the Lambo SUV type of market and then following that up in 18 mo with a version that has an electric boost engine coupled with the reg engine bringing the HP to around 700hp. My guess is they would put a similar type of thing on the FGT. But this is all hearsay from people I know in the biz.
