One of our own fellow Dino owners, Ryan Snodgrass, has authored and published a beautiful new book - "Carrera 2.7: The Soul of the Legendary Carrera 2.7 Lives on Within the Carrera 2.7 MFI."

Yes, it is a Porsche book, but what a Porsche book! For those who own a copy of Matthias Bartz's "Dino Compendium," Ryan's book has a similar gravitas, heft, thoroughness, and splendid layout - hardcover with slipcase, 406 pages, 686 color photos (many never seen before outside of the Porsche archives), 146 black-and-white photos, and over 50 diagrams and illustrations. And, like the "Dino Compendium," this is a limited edition work of love, and both books are very readable to boot!

Ryan displays full command and mastery of the subject matter, and indeed, he was granted extraordinary access to Porsche's libraries and inner sanctum of records and materials, which is reflected in the period factory photographs, internal records, and design studies included. Ryan spent well over 5 years researching and preparing "Carrera 2.7," tracked down and spoke with lucky owners of Porsche 2.7 MFIs all over the world, and spent many hours discussing the intricacies and vicissitudes of publishing with Matthias while visiting Matthias in Germany.

The book also includes a consideration of sports car alternatives, including the Dino 246, and includes photos from the June 7, 1975 issue of Motor magazine which featured a comparison between the Azzurra Metallizzato 1973 Dino 246 GT, serial # 06232, and the Lime Green 1975 Carrera 2.7 MFI coupe, 911 560 0112. What I would give to have both of those cars in my garage!

For anyone who owns a Dino and a Porsche 911, and especially an air-cooled 911 of any year, this book is a must-have companion to Matthias Bartz's "Dino Compendium" already sitting on your shelf.

Ryan's book is a great companion to The Dino Compendium. Both have raised the bar to new heights for research, thoroughness and presentation--two of the finest automotive books ever IMO.

Thanks Mark et. al for the compliments. It is certainly an honor to be compared with Matthias's Dino Compendium...a favorite on my bookshelf and one of several that provided inspiration for the Carrera 2.7 book! Thanks Matthias for all the support and advice over the years.

When I see that poster of #53, and to think I had it in my hands in Costa Rica in '83-'85. Brrrrr..... the first one that Peter Gregg raced.

Silly me, had no idea, just the same story with the 935 here. Just got to drive it for one whole day at the track, what a car :)

    Congratulations Ryan!

    Regards, Alberto

Bazinga! OK, OK- you got me back! I'm Scott LoL

BTW, you have not registered 06618 for the DinoRally.com yet. Perhaps consider it, 100% full refund until Sept 1 so no risk ....
and our chase vehicle will be carrying at least one spare battery, should that be of interest to you and 06618
    :)
