RH headrest appears non-standard shape, perhaps an "aftermarket" add-on ?
What is the dark rectangular shape feature above package shelf, right below the rear window ? Defroster air/vent outlet ? 3rd brake light (I doubt) ? ...

It's hard to say, it could be something on the windshield or a side view mirror mounted on the inside A pillar?

Is this original color for the car and was the “blood groove” painted in silver already back in the day, during Daetwyler ownership or is it more recent modification ?
    Just curious.

No headrest for driver or passenger. Maybe the passenger simply brought more 'stuff' for the weekend and it is piled up high behind her passenger seat.
The dark rectangular shape may be outside the car and part of shadow of the car passing by. Still neat to see this coupe at the races!

I only have ever seen the 'blood trough' painted black. Plus once in red on *14543* at the customer's request.

I've seen pictures taken in the '70s/'80(?) of several different examples with variety of colors added for the "groove".
Even have one currently in the shop with still original paint and "groove" highlighted in the mid-'70s, right after 2nd owner acquired it.

I've always been curious how common "customizing/personalizing" trick this was back in those days ('70s/'80s ?) when these cars were new or nearly new.
First time I saw one (20 some years ago), I admittedly wasn't quite sure what to make of it, but now have grown to appreciate it as rather cool period feature and especially in cars that might've received it in the '70s.

Was the red on 14543 added when the car was still with Harrah/MCM or Frost ('70s) or much later ? If '70s, do any period photos exist ?

Yes, original color and original stripe. Two owners only.
The side stripes were available in many colors such as gold, black, red, white, blue, grey.

    Interesting.
    Thank you very much.
Was the contrasting "blood groove"/"side stripe" color always or often noted on the build sheet or purchase order ?
And if yes, to your knowledge, what approximate percentage of cars originally had it ?

NO colors or stripes were mentioned on factory build sheets.
As mentioned earlier already build sheets do NOT contain any color details at all. Just mechanical stuff.
Color information can be found on the individual commercial sheet (Foglio Commerciale) or on a factory delivery note (Rimesso) or on a factory invoice (Fattura).
Sometimes you can find a note such as "striscia nera" (which translates into "black stripe"), or "striscia argento" (silver stripe) or "striscia rossa" (red stripe), etc.

Great info from Marcel regarding the painted stripes offered in a variety of colors! The first example seemed to be the Daytona Spyder in Fly Yellow shown at Frankfurt. In 1969 a Daytona coupe was shown there that also had the black stripe again on Fly Yellow paint.

Parked there wearing red the purity of the series 1 design is expertly conveyed, especially from the front with that clear headlights cover. No side marker lights or wheels and tires to distract either. Though the silver Ferrari to the side does catch your eye in the way that silver seems to magnify every design detail...
    Thank you Marcel!

What did you think of the fuzzy blue cloth inserts for the bucket seats? The silver padding on the console and firewall looks like an underhood (bonnet) insulation mat to that was reused. No doubt someone will be happy with their purchase...
