You are right! Peter has grey wheels not black. Does this car have number 88? If yes it's Alexander's car.

They should have stealth wrapped the stripe on the rear carbon wing as it stands out being gloss while the rest of the stripe is matte.....just saying

Piloti stripes are painted from the factory?

I have a question for Pilota owners that's been going through my head for a while. If you are competing with a 488 race car, what is the attraction to drive a much less capable version of the same car on the street? When I was racing motorcycles they were closed course competition bikes only. I would not be interested in a semi look alike street bike. Seems having the real thing would remove any interest in the other.

Taking the street version to the track would be even less satisfying I would think. Like taking a trail bike to a motocross track. Its a great car to own for perhaps staying in good graces with the brand and likely not losing money but still wondering what other purchase motivation there would be for a real racer or if anyone had the same thought process and decided to go ahead with the purchase.

It’s a great question and my main answer would be FUN. These are not cars that anyone needs and so it is literally for fun (and I could care less about the money/investment aspect). Racing the 488 challenge gives you such a strong positive connection to the 488 (the challenge car is AMAZING) that I was thrilled to have a go-faster street version. It’s also the allure of the factory saying we will give a special model only for challenge drivers (yes I know it’s only a paint job) and the factory will paint my race number (which I am also attached to) on the car. Agree you would never choose to track a street car instead of the challenge, don’t forget though the street car is faster in a straight line because it was way less downforce!

I too find the Pilota to be just a cash cow, but many people enjoy their sportscars on the road. Even F1 pilots!!!

Thanks for the reply Mark. The competition versions are so rare and awesome. I know an F1 Clienti member that has no interest in any Ferrari road car even though he is offered many. I thought he'd have a garage full of the LE's and hypers but the reality was he has a two F1's and two XXs so why bother with a street car made to look like a race car when you drive the real thing the brand is known for and has to offer. I guess its just a personal choice and everyone is different. Best.
