Hub and adaptor issues

    Just two bolts that hold the rotor onto the hub. In theory the lug bolts hold everything together and they can go.. I use regular bolts on mine. I guess you could switch to a m5 or m6 screw to replace them that fits in the spacer. I won't tell anyone what they can and can't remove on their car thought..

    Sorry, This goes to the thread where ‘if you don’t know the basics you should seek pro help.’ If you don’t know what they do and forces they can take them having an ‘adapter’ made without the engineering is asking for trouble.

    Geez, way to welcome a new member :rolleyes:. This is similar to the welcome you gave me when I came on board, something along the lines of I wasn't serious about my purchase since I hadn't made one yet, suggesting I was a troll of some sort. 3 years later and I have done more on my Ferrari than most would attempt. We already have one Rifledriver here.

    To the OP: I'm assuming that you have done some basic maintenance and/or brake jobs on other cars, and have noticed that these bolts only seem to exist on cars that use lug bolts rather than lug nuts, the rotors, like all other cars, are held on by the wheels. Those little flimsy bolts are more for hole alignment than anything else, since using bolts rather than stationary lugs insert another level of difficulty in wheel removal, alignment, and replacement. Removing them won't hurt, it may just make it a pain in the ass to get the wheels back on unless you have an alignment tool.

    But with any modification,do you due diligence. You may have to get longer lug bolts depending on the size of the spacers, you don't want your life in danger by wheels being held on by a thread or 2. I may consider buying application specific spacers that may take those bolts into consideration. Who made them, a local shop or some where that specializes in wheel spacers?

    Agree with redneck. Any bolt should be able to replace that bolt/stud thing. It’s a guide or something for OEM wheels.

    I don’t like the idea of spacers but if you get longer bolts to compensate for the thickness you u should be ok.

    He didn’t say spacer. He said adapter. IE: make some other wheel, bolt pattern fit. There are huge forces on wheels and without proper engineering and hardened fasteners you are taking a HUGE gamble. Liking my comment or not doesn’t change the risk and if he doesn’t know what those do I have zero confidence that the engineering was done to assure a wheel doesn’t come off. I can’t in good conscience encourage him taking uninformed risks. Sorry about that.

    When I asked Paul Hill of Hill Engineering if he could make an adapter for our 108 mm bolt pattern hubs to fit 114.3 mm (4.5") bolt pattern wheels, he said sure, but he would not guarantee it because it left too little metal on the outside of the adapter to be completely safe.

    If you want to solve the wheel mount issue without the little stud, go to Sticky RX's website and get a couple of his wheel mount tools. Screw right into the bolt holes to make it easy to fit and them unscrew once a couple of bolts are tightened.
