Lots of work done this weekend. Instrument cluster and dashboard are back together.

The fuel lines were a massive head**** to get out, extremely tight access. After a few days of cursing and wanting to slap a German, I ended up cutting them as a last resort and managed to get a long socket down. The fuel lines are no longer available from Porsche but after a bit of hunting, I found a 928 workshop in the US that makes a replacement. Looks as though they have better insulation too (they sit right next to the engine block) Anyway glad I spent the time pulling them out, they were in very poor condition, both showing wear. I bent one ever so slightly just to see how pliable they were and it literally snapped in my hands [emoji15] So to celebrate, I cooked a roast [emoji3]

    Good idea.

Those older transaxle cars, especially the 928 are infamous for fires.

Time for another stupid question re my new OHOS BMW (in the right thread this time).

Today I bought some electrical connector cleaner and will tackle the job on Sunday.
(Funnily enough this cost $18 and I just noticed a new sensor is $15.... lol)

So, stupid question: when I pull out the coolant level sensor will coolant start pouring out all over the place?
If so, do I just jam a rag or something up there?

I don’t think it communicates with the tank, has a magnet thingy that works on a float (if it’s the same as my daughter’s car)

Don't pull out the sensor, just unplug the connector, spray with cleaner, scrub it a bit with a toothbrush or similar, then spray again. When dry, reconnect.

If this doesn't work and you need to replace the sensor, empty the header tank first.
