+20k for major next year and it’s a good 116k + tax car to drive Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
And this is nearly the same as what i paid for a similar condition car in need of service a year ago so i'm in agreement on this price. This also proves red scores better than white. As should be expected.
Major is not more than 8k... u guys and ur major prices...mine was done at Ferrari and was 10 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maybe awhile ago but I just had my major done at the Koenigsegg service center in Clearwater FL finished in February 2018 and it was 10k. The clutch was already new and the top of the engine already had a full refinish including all gaskets and new coolant sleeves a few years ago. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! My mechanic said 10k but could easily be more depending on what was found. I would never base my assumptions on the minimum. The last major on my car was 24k with a new clutch. I’ve seen other similar receipts on other cars. I want to have enough money estimated for the major. I don’t believe in doing the bare minimum to save money. When that engine comes out you get everything done that’s needed. Replace hoses etc. Its an old car. What happens when someone plans for 10k and they get hit with a 20k bill. That in my mind was poor calculations on the buyer. I would never do that on a car or a home. Will make sure I’m properly covered or wait for a better deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

if someone plans for 10k and bill is 20k they should not buy these cars come with hefty everything all exotics just like high maintaince girls well worth it
But it’s not sold anyway, looks like they had 100+ in mind. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
$8k if all thats done is the typical major stuff, maybe even a water pump rebuild at that price. But if you plan on servicing other parts of the engine and car that are best accessed when the engine is down, it wont be $8k. And if someone only spent $7-8k on a major right before I buy the car off you, I wouldn’t consider myself to be in a great place for five years. Like I’ve said before, I’d rather get whatever discount I can negotiate on a car that needs a major now or soon, then get my own. This way you know that when the owner last had his engine out, he made decisions assuming he was keeping the car and not flipping it.
96k plus I’m doing the major is fair. Because I’m still going to plan on 20k for the major. Who knows what they did on the last one. You will more than likely have to spend more because the previous owner probably tried to save money which is more often then not when buying cars. It is rare to find someone that operates with an open checkbook philosophy. Then you get stuck with a bigger bill than you planned for. Now maybe your second major you spend less because you got the car in better shape. That’s how Plan for it. I did buy a car one time trying to plan for the bare minimum and was off by 10k in maintenance. Never again. Bought enough cars to know better now.
Guys a major where u do the clutch, change the water pump etc that’s no longer a major. A major is 8k independent, 10k max at Ferrari Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Call it whatever you want, but a TR will need more than just a major when the engine is out. I don’t defer maintenance on my cars, let alone a 30 year work of art
Not if u do regular maintenance and take care of ur car. U don’t need to do the engine out for everything & with all due respect (whether it’s right or wrong) most ppl will respect the job done by a pro vs at home mechanic way more at time Of resale. Not saying this is fair but that’s true. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Perhaps most will, I agree. That said it doesn't appear that the person who performed your major checked valve lash and set the timing, or else they would have said they did on the invoice. Dealerships are a waste of money...
I didn’t pay for it and yes they did- that’s just the dealer copy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ugh yes! How quickly I forget. Yeah I had to fix a lot of bad interior installation problems because they had the leather re-done before I bought it. That was a pain but its behind me. Had someone else bought my car and didn't do it themselves it would have not been ideal. Compared to this most recent TR I paid more, but still comparable. I wouldn't have bid on this one because black interior and no Monodados EDIT: I forgot, BaT charges 5% up to $5k buyers premium so the actual sale price would have been $100.8k. My car was cheaper
Agreed....unless the car is from this forum. We're all DIY and enthusiasts here. For me, I believe in constant maintenance and improvements a little at a time. This is why even though I'm a Lamborghini guy the Testarossa has proven itself to be the most reliable car even surpassing my 06 Murcielago Roadster. I'm not just saying this as a Miami Vice fanboy. I'm only coming back to the car full circle after I didn't drive it for 6 1/2 years. I see it as the car now...not just the Miami Vice dream....and it's damn bulletproof. ...just stay on top of the age related issues...connectors and rubber. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice!
