I always worry about that when shipping, hopefully it was insured. Are they going to replace the watch or wait for the shipping company to complete their investigation?

I once had a package marching across the country until FedEx abruptly stopped tracking it and reported it missing. It must have just got mis-scanned somewhere because a few days later it arrived without any further tracking details having been posted.

Well, my watch was being shipped from LA to Houston. This morning it is in Tampa. You figure it out.

Hey Kirk, do me a solid. Go pick it up at the airport. Maybe you could take it out, buy it a margarita, show it around town for a bit, and then put it on a plane to Houston.

    Anyone.
What's a quality luxury watch that is best for someone who is prone to banging his wrist on things?

Something with an acrylic crystal. Sapphire crystals are tough but they shatter when they are hit hard. An acrylic crystal will scratch easier but they can be cleaned up with a little polywatch and some elbow grease.

For years I wore on my right, often felt it was wrong did a lot of damage I assume bc I'm a righty. Recently changed to the left wrist & I'm still banging it around, it's me...

Rolex is new to me. I recently bought a gold daydate as a gift to me , jeweler said they are one of the most durable makes. I just don't want to wear it all the time since imo it should be for special occasions. I was wondering if there was another make that is equal but more casual & not rolex gold expensive.

I did a search and I don't think I'm going to find a luxury nice watch in anything but sapphire. It's kind of why I asked , maybe there is something out there I'm not seeing.

    Thanks all

Buy a used 4 digit Rolex Sub. 1570 movement (a true workhorse), tough, acrylic crystal, etc. A 5513 or, if you can find one, a 5512 would do the trick. Depending on condition you could get a 5513 for 8 to 12. A 5512 would run you 12 to 17.

Today I’m wearing a black suit with a faint rust stripe in it. Figured this rose gold chronograph from the early 1940’s would work well.

Being a watch collector, owning many brands, thickness and case sizes, having smacked too many watches to count
Best advise is.... the thinner and smaller the watch the better and more comfortable.
Saying this, if within your budget try Patek 36 to 39mm, date only .... very thin watch!

After much searching, with a willingness to pay a significant premium, my local A. Lange & Sohne AD called to offer this to me yesterday at MSRP (yes, I do A LOT of biz w/them!). Needless to say, I said yes without hesitation! Now awaiting a platinum deployant buckle to make it perfect!

I agree with the acrylic crystal in principal, but it really depends on you. I can't stand the constant scratches that acrylic crystals get, but at the same time, sometimes I wear my 5513 because it's satisfying to polish the crystal nightly. That said, I have never broken a sapphire and it's not so easy to do. AR on the outside is a different story. For a less expensive, but robust option, look at Omega, SINN, Panerai, and Bell and Ross. IMO, all are made to be worn and look better with some scars.
