No, the weigh bridge is not related to the "disqualification". Well, if the front seems like a run-away, Leclerc and Gasly bringing up the rear should prove interesting...more so Leclerc but Gasly said he's going full tilt from beginning to end so he's not holding back.
+1 Just like when Lewis had a 45 grid penalty. Do everything new since it won't make a bit of difference.
Hope they crash into each other, or get a close up of low flying drain covers that destroys their suspension
This makes total sense. Vettel passed some others in Q3 ,as a result he did not get the all important tow .Why? Mercedes got the tow strategy right, not by luck ,by planning. Add the cooler temps to the mix et voila. Race will be much hotter so that should favour Ferrari. However Vettel also has to deal with Max. It will be down to strategy/tyres/safety cars etc etc.
I hope those who are fellating Leclerc and bemoaning Vettel now finally shut up a bit. As embarrassing as Vettel's spins are, that crash by Leclerc, who would have had poll very likely, is at least as embarrassing, particularly when there was absolutely no reason for it. And his excuse about the tires makes no sense because he managed, on his first lap on mediums, not to f it up. I like Leclerc, but he is no savior. Overall, as usual, Ferrari find a way to through away a position of strength and Mercedes finds a way to take advantage. Different route to get there perhaps but same old ****.
Vettel has the experience to not make the mistakes and does and consistently year after year. Charles has the lack of experience, new to the team. Not for Vettel he is just over rated. Period.
Both Leclerc and Vettel were having trouble on the harder compound on the colder track. Ferrari were the only team trying the harder compound in Q2. I think we can lay this Q2 on the pit wall. Yet another bad call from the sidelines.
The Mercedes team are employing the kinds of sharp tactics we might have expected from Ferrari circa 2000-2006. It's starting to look like their year again. All the best, Andrew.
Early for the season. Lets hope some consistent positive leadership with Ferrari can alter the present course.
Both Ferrari drivers had problems at the same turn. https://www.instagram.com/p/BwxXmHhg2-w/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=atzsqfztxwx4
Why is it crazy? Ricci lost his podium in Australia'14 for the same reason. You know what's crazy that was 5 seasons ago
Crazy that Gasly already had a penalty for the weigh bridge and was already starting in the pits. Then they throw a DQ from qualifying due to a fuel flow infringement even though he's starting in the pits. I guess on paper, the fuel flow infringement was necessary. Some of these rules are asinine. They pile penalties that, currently, make no sense as in this case with Gasly. On the other end, Williams/Russell get "penalized" for use of certain components that was'nt their fault due to the FIA not inspecting street manhole covers. Crazy.
Ferrari was either cocky or stupid or both to put their cars out in Q2 on harder tires on a rapidly cooling try. Leclerc should have done a modest lap and then come in and demanded the soft compound. And if they had survived and had to start on those harder tires Mercedes would have beaten them on the start and never looked back. There are still giant problems with the team strategy and management.
He starts from north eastern Uzbekistan, but he only needs to stamp one form at the Azerbaijan border.
At the end of the day, fuel flow infringement gives an advantage. The FIA is lenient allowing the car to compete, IMO. It should be disqualified from the race and Red Bull fined for it. They have already been found guilty of the same offense in the past.
Red bull kinda could've used Gasly as a patsy? Just force him to start from the pitlane (irrelevant that he has to now anyways), on brand new tyres. Won't make a difference here with likely a crash in T1/2/3 anyways!
Its certainly looking that way, he may come good though, however to me it seems when under pressure its his achilles heel.
I am not that naive. It didn't happen in the race because the infringement was found before. Without the FIA checking, it's more likely that the car would have raced with excessive fuel flow, with Red Bull hoping they wouldn't get caught !!! It did happen before, right ?
well it's an electronic sensor. Every car gets checked after every session for this and it'll automatically flag up. It's as simple as using the wrong settings from the steering wheel. They where guaranteed to start last anyways, so what could possibly have been done by blatantly cheating? Zero. He still would've started last.
