Is there any issue with plugging the water pump hose barb that feeds the heater core then also plugging the heater core inlet and outlet pipes and the barb welded to the lower coolant tube on the firewall?

I will never run the heater and for other reasons as well would like to bypass the heater core all together before I install the engine now that I’m done with the major.

If you were to do that I would suggest that you should also disconnect the recirculating pump for the heater circuit which is located in the front trunk.

The 348's HVAC ECU has a certain amount of automation in it's functionality, which includes all operating perimeters and its associated components, including the heater subsystem. Example being, depending on inside and outside temperatures, some heating may be used during windshield defrosting.

Also, when my aux water pump for the heater failed, it triggered an E8 Code (displayed in lieu of the temp settings). At that point, I could not change the temp settings.

Thanks for the input guys. I’m thinking about installing a “u” shaped hose on the inlet and outlet ports near the fire wall after filling the lines with antifreeze/water for protection from oxidation . I may also install the ball valve as pictured above as well and keep it closed. Any issue with leaving the heater circulation pump connected so it doesn’t throw a code on the control panel?

You can plug and bypass it without major complications.
