CEO Camilleri commented today as follows during the analyst's phone call which I guess is the first official confirmation

The second model will be presented at the end of this month with a world premiere held here in Maranello. As we have stated previously, it will be a top-of-the-line hybrid with supercar performance and a true beauty.

The model that's coming in three weeks' time will be at the high end and it will have a supercar performance. When I say it's a high end, it will be above the 812 Superfast.

 

When Ferrari says supercar, do they really mean hypercar? I’d consider the 812 and Pista to already be supercars.

 

The so called hypercars from a few years ago were perhaps a bit of a misnomer. People didn't think they'd already be getting surpassed in performance. Don't get me wrong, they are still at or near the top of the food chain, but the difference in performance between a $1M car and a $250K has shrank considerably.

 

F8/812, just like their predecessors, are called "Sports Cars" by Ferrari, so maybe they are using the term "Supercar" to indicate something with a higher performance level within their regular production line-up. By the way, I don't think Ferrari has ever officially used the word "hypercar" but I could be wrong about that.

 

Essentially true and further Ferrari had prior classified the mid V-8 as the Sports Car - (extreme performances) and the V12 mid-front from as the Sports Car - extreme performances above 230K euro (plan under Lucca era) also refereed to as the production flagship. Supercar at that time always seemed to refer to the track-oriented, exclusive mid-12 LE for their top clients. The 612 and California were classified as Granturismo - versatility.

Yes, that's they mean by the term "supercar". They regard rest of rest either sports cars or GTs; even though we all know they are supercars.

 

In the past the term hypercar didn’t exist within Ferrari’s corporate terminology. So the LaFerrari was referred to as a supercar. However the recent official documents show that this has changed:

So since this thread has reached over 1300 posts and has discussed everything from saving the planet to world economics I figured out could tolerate a couple more midnight sketches from me to ponder while waiting for the reveal of the real thing.

No straight edges or circle templates were harmed in the execution of these sketches, some more realistic than others but still based on observations from the test cars.

I was on a course at Fiorano this past weekend.
The talk was of hybrids and super cars, though no real secrets were divulged of course.
Just owner appetites wetted.
