The ID plates seem to be missing from the inner wing. Hope they are in those boxes!!

I wonder if they’d sell me the spare wheel.

    Hello all,

A friend mentioned this IG account to me, a passionate bodywork specialist in the Pyrenees south WEST France working on a K: never saw one dismantled quite that deeply, very skilled and thorough. I left him a phone message to find out more and which chassis that is.

    https://www.instagram.com/mialetsebastien/?hl=en

In other news during a work visit to McGraths Maserati in the UK April 24 I saw no less than FIVE Khamsins I had never seen before, that will never happen again, except perhaps at KHAMSIN CINQUANTA in June 2022:) A couple of the five I had never heard of so great harvest day for the Registry:) Saw another at my publisher's so 6 in two days in the UK.

Will post photos in next few days, have been busy with work and moving house.

Heading to Switzerland this week to an excellent location to see more:)

The new K at Beverly Hills car club looks like it had an engine fire. I wonder, since plates are missing, if it is a stolen car like the black one they had recently which was sold....somehow. Will contact them.

    Best regards,

    Marc

Do you plan to center the dates in June 2022 around the Le Mans Classic?

    Hello Foncool,

    KHAMSIN CINQUANTA June 2022.

It will not be the same weekend as Le Mans Classic is usually early July. K50 will be either Thursday 16-Sunday 19 or Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26 2022. Very, very early days yet but of course I know where I want to do it and what will take place during the weekend:) But yes those restoring a car should plan on being finished a year before (since restorations of any classics tend to run long).

It will not be in Burgundy but in a completely different region and stunning location convenient to most European Khamsin owners. The goal will be to gather fifty Khamsins which is not at all unrealistic because there are about 120+ running cars in Europe. Maserati Classiche will most likely come again like during KHAMSIN QUARANTA in 2012 and hopefully Marcello Gandini again as well.

There will be social times: cocktails, dinners light lunches, a gala black tie dinner, a touring rally (non competitive), visits of historic locations, a specialist manufacture, a car collection or two, a concours. The five best Khamsins will then take part in a major concours the next day (Sunday) as a special class to further appreciation of the Khamsin by firstly non specialist collectors of other marques and models secondly to further appreciation of the model by the general classic car afficionado public.

For those coming from the US with their K's (this will be facilitated, many Americans come to Europe every year with their cars or RV's) there will be the possibility to enjoy their cars after and or before the event and of course driving to Le Mans is a great trip with the Loire Valley castles a couple of hours from the circuit.

    Best regards,

    Marc

Being within a 10 day timeframe of Le Mans Classic would make it a stronger consideration for US based participating.

You are right and the same goes for anyone else from outside of Europe. We will do our best but our event will not take place in July as it gets too busy then: mid-late une is perfect. The Le Mans Classic 2022 date will be announced some time next year, I will ask Patrick peter which way the wind is blowing as far as which weekend is likeliest for their event but we have lots ot book well in advance so we will see how things pan out. KHAMSIN QUARANTA was Le Mans 24 hours weekend and some Brits stopped at Le Mans to watch practice on the way to our event.

    Hi,

    Update on the sill’s.
We are currently doing some trials whit different purity grades of aluminium,te anodic treatment reacts different to each purity.

We are also making new door handles for our am120,the old ones are made out of zamak.
This material suffers from cavetation,so the result after chroming is not what we are looking for.
This is why we are casting new ones out of brass, the fine lines will be milled out.
We did the same prosess whit a set of Lamborghini 350 gt handles, these came out superb!
The pictures are made before and after chroming the samak handles.

If you are interested in a set of chromed brass handles let me know.

    Greetings Martijn

Hello again Martijn. From the pictures of the handles.. the final product looks to have a very blueish tinge? Is that simply my screens me eyes? Or is this before chroming them? I am interested also. But rather as a spare set just in case. Thank you

    Hi Martijn,

More often than not it’s the black plastic bezels that break, are you looking at producing these too?
These handles are shared with Alfa Montreal series 1 cars too, but they’re scarce also.

    Buon giorno, Khamsinisti.

This post is perhaps a little pre-mature, but I'm very excited to have been invited to help an owner with a 1977 Khamsin local to me. Original owner, bought it new from Bob Grossman in NY, manual shift, full glass rear w US bumper, but front converted to Euro. The owner is having some trouble with it, and needs some help. It cranks, but no start. We'll look at fuel pump(s), carburetors, spark first. He heard about me and found me at a local car show on Saturday. Super nice owner, and we'll pick a day with nice weather, hopefully this week. I'll bring the Bora and some tools to visit him and his Khamsin.!

Marc, I'll get the VIN for you.
    Ciao,
    - Art

    Buon giorno Bob,
LOL, no, MikeG isn't quite this local and I don't believe Mike has any Khamsins, but a clutch of QPs, plus a Merak SS or two. This is an older gentleman, an enthusiast for many years, two grown sons of the same mind. Knows a lot of the same names I do, but never run into him before. Really nice, it's the son who got hold of me after he saw my Bora a month ago. I had completely forgotten, but Saturday the son had bought his dad to talk about the K. So we talked and he's had Dave Burnham service it, "but that was about 15 years ago" he said. Out of curiosity, I asked if any LHM was leaking, he said no, "because I only drive it about 20miles a year".. and I thought that's exactly WHY it should be leaking and suggested he drive it more. He said he's pretty busy with his other cars - more modern and "easier to drive, less sluggish" - LOL - he didn't feel the 4.9L was a match for the weight of the Khamsin and the gears were too short (let it be noted he's talking about a Porsche Carrera GT which he also characterized as hard to drive, and a Huaracan Performante, and a few other high-end exotics)... So he just might be leaning towards selling the K. I haven't seen it, so who knows the condition - do Khamsins have any weakness with rust? That can creep in around here in long term cold storage.
    Grazie,
    - Art

Hi Marc, I was visiting the Marcello Gandini (hidden genius) exhibition in the Museo dell'automobile Torino, Italy last weekend, they had some pretty nice cars and prototypes on display including a white Khamsin.

Art, I responded to your PM, we look forward to your report and photos, many thanks:)

Lucas good morning I was actually in Luzern last week very briefly but had zero spare time. Thank you for that.
You will have recognized the white car in the Gandini Turin exhibition from having seen it at KHAMSIN QUARANTA, it is AM120-270 sold new to Lucca and currently the only Khamsin that gets driven regularly around their birth city of Modena, although the Panini 080 was recently serviced and driven after a long spell in the museum. There is also a silver car sold new to Germany in the Stanguellini museum in Modena.

Here is a photo from 2006 when I visited the then owner Davide B. in San Felice sul Panaro 30 minutes away from Modena.

    Best regards,

    Marc

    Hi Richard,

The bleu shine is caused by our brand new overhead windows.
The last picture are the samak ones, the customer is looking for a better finish.

Owner says he had it running and driving 3 months ago... (what he was doing on the roads here in February!?).. and that it just slowly quit and refused to start again, so his wife helped him limp it home (!?). Seems the fuel pump is the cause. I turn the ignition to 'On', I hear a 'click' of a relay, but no sound comes from the small fuel pump located low aft of the passenger side front wheel, and no fuel gets to the carburetor fuel rail. In fact, the rail is completely dry.

The fuel gauge comes alive and shows 1/2 tank.
    The fuel filter is ancient.
Underside is solid and dry, but shows its age..
The two bottom photos - that is the fuel pump, right? Very small.
He says it runs rough, when it runs.

Looks like a nice original car with years of deferred maintenance. That yucky looking thing is indeed the fuel pump. I recently had one go bad and MIE provided a replacement. If for some reason none is found a Bendix (Facet) pump is a suitable replacement.

    Art,

Thank you for your PM's, much appreciated.

Ivan is right the fuel should be drained, the fuel filter should be checked, it could -also- be clogged- those old tires should not be trusted at high speed. Mainly old fuel can cause lots of problems as it separates in layers when left for long periods of time with a varnish like substance at the top which clogs up everything from the tank to the carbs...

Before any driving the LHM system should be checked, it is perfectly simple and reliable but does not like to sit. The car should go to Dave Burnham for a wake up from slumber service and a bumper conversion.

Always nice when another K emerges from the woodwork, I will let you determine if the chassi number can be posted here -I see no harm in that- and of course from our private messages I noted the owner wishes to remain anonymous. In any case I had zero information on this chassis number because as you said he bought it from Grossmann new and never joined any clubs or took part in any events etc.
