    Hey Steve, how come you never mentioned your new toy was provided by a QUEENSLANDER?!?!?!?! For those who didn't see the story: Mr. Geoffrey Carrick (grazier) donated his entire estate (around $10million) to RFDS in his will and this is what bought the new toys. The irony is he's believed to have died on his kitchen floor as a result of snakebite... RIP

    I didn't mention it because that's not quite the case. He was a very generous man who made an amazing donation to RFDS (and the Brisbane Children's Hospital), but it more than likely went to the national body and / or Queensland Section, rather than Central Section. It's important to understand that although RFDS is a national organisation, each section is responsible for their own funding / finances. There is a B200 King Air with his name on it based in Cairns, which is providing a wonderful service to the people of QLD.

    To the best of my knowledge, our - Central Section's - new jet was entirely funded by donations specific to our section. WA section also has two new PC-24s which - I would assume - were funded by local donations and / or government funding.

    The fact that the eastern states sections have - so far - chosen not to buy new jets is entirely their choice based on whatever they see their needs to be.
