Yes. It’s the first mid size biz-jet in the world to get approval for unsealed strips (as far as I’m aware). If you look closely ours has the “kit” for this attached to the nose-wheel. God only knows how much that costs in the options list... Last week they took it to the far north of SA for a photo snd video shoot of it landing and taking-off on dirt strips. I’ve seen a few of the pics. It is absolutely amazing. I think there’ll be a media release in a week or so.
Yes the front wheels are the problem The F111 had a tyre mod done after we lost a plane in Ohakea in NZ many years ago on a very wet airfield The spray from the original tyres caused a double flameout and the plane crashed
That’s right. You can see in the first pic that the nose wheel tyre has very significant chines to deflect spray away from the engines. Second pic shows the gravel kit. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
We also lost a couple of engines when we first went to Tindall on a reccy The suction from 25000 pounds of thrust sucked rocks into the engine ........ oops
Ah apologies - I thought the article said this was the 'first' of the new Kingairs so I took that to be 'yours'; and thanks for clarifying that funding is regionalised.
Here you go, JM. A8-132 arriving safely at the South Australian Aviation Museum this morning. It will join A8-134. Cool. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
