Today a good Li-Ion battery for an hybrid car needs less space than what there is in the rear shelf (where you usually put the cabin bags set): if they already put one on LaFerrari, why shouldn't be possible to put one on this car?

I've heard LaF hybrid power cell replacement cost is $100,000+. So is that also going to be the case with BB??

Has been discussed elsewhere But I highly doubt over a 50k price tag battery
prices are falling and the BB wont need one till 7-8 years from now.So further
drops in pricing will come. After all this is a production car and I'm sure they
do not want it to be extremely expensive to maintain

The battery in LaFerrari was much smaller and putting so much weight on the rear shelf is far from optimal. Also you need to put electric motors and more stuff.

Someone made an electric 308 so if Ferrari wants to do a hybrid 488, they can do it, but I doubt it would make much sense. Better start from a new platform than modify and old car with 3 or 4 years of market life left.

The weight is a rather consuming topic of conversation. It depends on dry weight or with fluids or some other weight spec that Ferrari chooses. There should be some weight offset with the new platform as the Pista is on the old platform but without the hybrid component. Have to wait for the Ferrari announcement...

The -200kg from pista weight could be controversial as dry weight for hybrid cars could actually mean without battery as well since there is not a well defined standard yet for hybrids. The -200kg could also be achieved from replacing traditional lithium cells with supercapacitors thus yielding more of an electrically assisted ICE rather than a full on hybrid. Since the concept of the BB is to be more track focused, it would seem to make sense for Ferrari to put the minimum amount of electric cells in the car. Clearly their ambitions is not for this car to be able to travel solely on the electric motors.

Sorry if it's been discussed before - but will it be normal production only limited by demand or will it be limited by Ferrari?

    Normal production model was confirmed.

Pretty amazing to think about it, given the price point and performance

Oh wow..i wonder how many per year then. $600k normal production should limit it..a bit but i can only imagine the value of a used one ine 3 years with 10k miles.

The GT engines project leader (includind all the 488-Pista-F8 V8TT engines) was Corrado Iotti, up to one year ago: then he has been moved to the racing department and he now is the F1 engine boss. The Pista-F8 engine produces some PSI of boost starting from 100 rpm above idle: there aren't many turbocharged engines that pump from the idle with no lag and are still pushing at 7800 rpm.

I guess it will depend how many they make per year. 3 years might be too short, but let's say 5 years. We see now F12s starting to get very close to $210k retail. Which means the owner probably walked out with $190k.
But i could see this one losing 40% of MSRP in 5 years as well. Esp if it is indeed a new range and will be replaced in 5 years or so with something faster.
40% of $600k is not negligible..

It's a new range and the specs look amazing if they can pull it off. But that is not enough, right? We see today how the main production cars are already faster than the supercars at 1/3 of the MSRP price (720/P1 - Pista/Laf - gt2RS/918). I guess it will depends how many Ferrari will make total. To go back to an F12 - i think they made around 5000 cars. Not sure there is a market for 5000 big brother cars at $600k so Ferrari will most likely make less.

3 Days of Presentation (29., 30. and 31.) with around 350-400 People each. Lets say 80% of the invited people buy the car, so Ferrari is selling around 1000 cars in 3 Days. Public presentation in Le Mans, next selling wave, not so bad I would say...

Would mean the production is sold out for years.

If you order now in May, around 12-18 month waiting. The list will be very long for the Baby, I’m sure.

Really looking forward to next week :) car will be extremly important for Ferrari.
