I’ve a small wrist but agree:3940 and 3970 are on the small side. 5070 has an important size. 5270 being perfect
Own two Daytona’s and a “Sub”, a couple IWC’s, Omega’s, .... After the last several posts, PP is my “F50 or CGT”, and I’m not talking Nautilus - great stuff gentleman ... MDS
A perfect PP for a small wrist is 5040. And I’m sure its value will grow. Image Unavailable, Please Login

It’s a good question. I had had it maybe a year, the dealer I bought it off called me up offered me more than I paid for it, I traded it for something else. I. don't remember exactly. Why did I sell F40, 288gto, scud, 360cs, fiberglass 308, F12, 250 lusso, etc etc? I don't have a good answer to that either. Ps sold 5980 too which was probably even dummer. Oh well!
The 5270 has grown on me with the newer dial updates. The recent salmon dial is very special indeed...and I like the blue dial reference you presented above. Even if some don’t love the chin (for me a little controversy makes things less boring!) The blue is a stunner.
Antique Rolex Datejust my father gave me when I graduated high school more than 40 years ago. Still runs great and keeps decent time. I have several other watches including a much nicer Rolex my wife gave me but I prefer to wear the one with the most history. I think it's been rebuilt four times. A bit scuffed up and the crystal is always scratched but it is my favorite regardless. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Today an early 5512 Submariner. When I was in my 20’s this was the watch I dreamed about. I thought most guys had a nice dress watch but if you could have a Sub for knocking around you’d really made it. What can I say? I was young. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Understanding that the 5270 is a 97/100 watch and one of the finest timepieces ever made, let me just point out a couple of things I would have changed if i was designing it. Look at the picture above posted by principissimo (who is obviously a man of impeccable taste). I don't like the fact that the sub dials at 3 and 9 have centers that are below the equator of the dial. It spoils the symmetry. To my eye it makes the lower half of the dial way too crowded and leaves lots of blank real estate in the top half. I also don’t find the “chin” pleasing where the sub-dial at 6 is so crowded at the bottom that the railway tracks have to run around the dial. To me the 5970 has none of these issues and that is why I think it is perfect.
Now officially on the hunt for a 5270! Sorry I didn’t reach out while in Milan last week. Left this morning (Saturday), but back on June 27th. Ciao!
Agree with you my friend. I guess you know but may be others don’t. There are 2 versions of the blue dial. Mine is the first version (it’s numbered 14) the second one is the one in this pic (found on google) numbered 19. These number are used to know which is the dial on the watch. As you see there’s a change at 6 and in the bin design. Image Unavailable, Please Login
An update on an old situation. Seeing the Milgauss vs GMT thread prompted me to post this. Some of you may remember that a client gave me a Batman GMT a while back. After posting a picture, a few of you said it was fake. I went back to the client and he ordered me a new GMT, and this one was an all black bezel. It was delivered to me in the box, with all papers, so I know the new one is real. Here is a side-by-side of the two watches. The Batman fake is identical in size and weight. The only difference I can see is that the Batman second hand does not quite 'touch' the seconds markers. In all other aspects the watches appear identical (until you open the case). Image Unavailable, Please Login Much like my 308, which for me was “the car” to have (long time dream), the Sub was “the watch” to have. Finally was ready to pull the trigger... then couldn’t get one! Happened to call the AD on my birthday the other day... and schazaam! Here she is!
