Ok guys my shifter gasket/seal, the one that goes right under the metal shifter plate is completely destroyed. It basically fell apart, and the metal shifter plate was just basically sliding on the top trim, and by that it damaged it badly as you can see in the pics! Looks like Im going to need to find that trim as well. =(

So I've seen someone sell this shifter gasket somewhere. Was it Racambi, hill engeneering? I can't remember where i've seen someone sell them for $15. They are not expensive which is good.
I can't recall the correct name for the part to find them now.

But man the stickies on the buttons and trims are horrible, especially on the inside of the trims, my fingers were all sticky and black by the time i was done. Can't wait to send them in and get them redone by StickyRx. But for now I need to find that shifter gasket/seal.

I just got the car and how did previous owner drove like this?

    Look how nasty is was!

This is the part of that gasket/seal. It was in such a bad shape it was falling apart like charcoal.

Got it all cleaned up there.

Looks like you badly need part 64234400, too ;)

Maybe Dave at StickRx has some treated ones lying around

Looks like you're going through the same process as I was in the early years. I would invest in some Tesa cloth tape, too, to wrap up the wiring harnesses you find in that area.

Note that if you see "Not for GD" in Ferrari parts catalogues, it means not for right hand drive cars.

if you have a look at this website:
    https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/ferrari/355-27-motronic/

you can reference all your parts easily, I know it's a UK website - a lot of the US FChatters order from here, or you can just reference the part number needed to order from Ricambi.

Hopefully save you a lot of time and waiting on Fchat for answers.

We know these sticky woes all too well. I have a 95 as well- I should look to see if I have any issues with this gasket.

You want to know who has the best prices I've ever seen for parts? Sticky RX!

The new part is probably made from the same chewing gum and will go bad. I had the same issue spacer disintegrated into a messy black gum inside the shift box and under the carpets. Someone should 3D print this part out of something robust.

I actually found this part at StickyRX first but than decided to check at Racambi and they had that part for $11 and shipping there was better choices too.

I've also put the car on jacks today and took all 4 wheels off to get ready for new tires to be put on. Got under the car & noticed that my right hand boot on the drive axle came off. Its the very inner one. :( looks like im gonna need to take the axle out and get a new clamp to reclamp the boot. Can't do it on the car, there is barely any room to get there.

I also noticed on the gated manual shaft there, that's where the shaft goes into the transmission. There is a boot as you can see in the picture. It has a zip tie holding it at the end, which I cut off because the zip tie came off and wasn't holding. Any ideas what kind of clamp should be there holding it?????

Like the plastic panels, the tape which wraps around the wiring looms tends to go gooey and it unravels. The Chinese knock-off tape is dirt cheap, but doesn't stick well. Best to buy the original stuff.

You might want to check out this message thread on replacement boots:

I don't believe there is any clamp or zip tie normally on that dust boot (147572). Behind it, is the actual shift shaft seal (146306). My guess would be that somebody didn't want to properly replace the seal, so they tried to zip-tie the rubber boot onto the gearbox flange, thinking that would magically mask the problem.

The parts book does indicate a simple zip-tie used on the F1 version of that F355 boot, but even that is nothing more than a generic plastic zip tie.

Ian thank you so much for helping again. You are the man that comes through 1st on my questions. Im getting the right boot now, and that link you shared there solves all search problems. The previous owner of my car replaced both boots, but one of them already had a clamp that came off. The other one is still holding on, but i can see some grease come through. Not sure what boots they used, but it was done at the Ferrari place.

Ricambi thank you so much for helping and posting that info.
