Concepts are always more radical than production versions

The rendering and ‘reality’ aren’t that far apart in my eyes. I’m loving the Stradale more and more. I think the Portofino and the Pista are the only Ferraris in the past 5 years that I loved the design from the instant I saw it.

Stradale was challenging...but thats a good thing. My sensibilities came around to meet it (just like I did for 812, 488, Lusso).

As of today...I think its gorgeous. Quirks and all.

To be honest, I feel like concept to reality is usually a more drastic change. SF90 actually looks just like the concept. Just has slightly smaller wheels and sits a bit higher, but that’s to be expected.

Really loving this design. The rear will take a bit longer to come around, but I suspect seeing it in person will change that.

Notwithstanding the stretch on the image of the actual car (perhaps it’s just my screen playing tricks), it’s surprisingly close.
The concepts and renders always oversize the wheels, so I give them a pass on that.
Where is the concept image from? Are there any other images available for comparison?

Was thinking this the other day.

The concept looks like a potentially clean sheet design whereas the real thing looks like they tried to do a clean sheet design... but on a 488 platform.

Here's food for thought... would anyone trade a Pista for a SF90?

Interesting that Race mode will only be 875 hp. Makes you wonder if the significantly heavier weight is worth the small power bump in the non-Hot-Lap modes.

Yes SF90, absolutely and without hesitation! Minus the black roof...

That's basically my view, too. The actual car looks like the ugly twin. And yes, details are exact, but it's all about proportions. Unlike other recent models, the "magic" is lost here when the sketch becomes the real car, in my opinion.

The part they really screwed up is where the roof slopes back. Look how much smoother and graceful the LF is. The SF90 has a really abrupt transition that almost looks like the car was designed without the roof and they just stuck one on. It doesn't transition well at all.

I noticed that too. Based on Ferrari's data, the SF90 will have a tough time keeping up with the Pista or 720S outside of 'Qualify' mode. Both Hybrid and Performance modes limit the electric motors to ~ 43% of maximum output to conserve battery, and with 780hp RWD the 70hp on the front axle won't dramatically improve traction. That said, in real life use the torque curves will be substantially different, since electric motors have full torque from 0 rpm - so that extra 70hp may have a greater effect than would be predicated by specs alone.

I assume most will drive around in Performance mode. Hybrid mode basically enables the start/stop function that we all hate. EV mode is basically irrelevant, except for sneaking out of the house in the middle of the night... which might actually come in handy :D

So I guess two people can look at the same picture and end up on the opposite end of the opinion spectrum. To me, that picture is nightmare fuel. It’s horrifying. While I might well be disappointed by the SF90, it does not buckle my knees like that rendering just did. Wow...just wow.

I actually can’t quite believe how unimaginative the Batista is. It’s almost like the brief was “it’s our first car, and customers will have to pay a few million Euros...don’t do anything stupid....”
