A friend of mine with contacts in Italy did some checking. He was told that this has been discontinued although they still have some U.S. units in stock. Price was around $4,500, installation would be around 10 hours and it requires a "proxi" alignment. Hope this helps.

What do you mean by "discontinued". Still listed on the website.

Yeah not only is it listed, it says "New." Was there an older version of this that was discontinued? Supposedly this version has a touch pad, 3D maps, and lots of connectivity. I don't remember the 2019 488 I looked at having that. Does the Pista, Portofino, 812, or F8 have it?

My dealer is testing the first unit as we speak so it can't be discontinued if that is not like brand new news that has not hit my dealer yet :)

Discontinued might mean that no more are being made after the existing inventory is sold.

I tried to place one on order, here is what I got:

I spoke with the head of parts and accessories for Ferrari North America, and he said they have received a large number of inquiries so far but he is unsure if it truly works for our market. He is in the process of acquiring his first kit and testing to verify that it will work. Apparently they have done this in the past but once installed, the navigation would only show a map of Europe, even though it was the “USA Market” component. I will follow up with him this week to see if he as any more information or a better eta.

I also contacted my dealer in Toronto and was told that no such part exists for them.

Got these costs from my local(ish) dealer

The costs for the unit are:

    • £2318.35 + VAT : infotainment system
    • £191.52 + VAT : DAB radio addition (optional)
    • Fitment: TBC but circa £1000 + VAT
Personally I think Ferrari are taking the p*ss - not bothering to even make a map update available for the OEM system, then try to charge us upwards of £4,200 for this pile of sh*te

I put a big clean power Nakamichi amp, some Focal speakers and a Scuderia Audio subwoofer in my 458 spider. Sound quality is of the hook. Makes the supposed "high end" JBL factory option sound like a 1940's tube radio. The sub looks factory. Covered in proper factory leather and stitched with yellow piping to match the interior perfectly. All very highly recommended. I don't need navigation because I never really care where I end up when I'm driving this thing! Image Unavailable, Please Login

I like this option - I did the same thing recently using the full Scuderia Audio setup in my F430. However, I just traded up for a 458 Italia and am contemplating doing it again instead of hoping this Ferrari upgrade pans out. Can you post pics (maybe in a new thread if needed) of all the installed components?

Has anyone learned the ferrari part numbers for the kit or the components therein? It might be easier to track down and get quotes that way.

    Thanks!

I looked into this. The service director at my dealership placed a call to order the part and he said it has not yet been officially released. Once it is released he will get it and install it. I'll post pics and videos for others interested in having their infotainment system upgraded.

VERY interesting additional upgrade for sure !

Dealers here have not heared about it …..

You can upgrade to these JBL speakers behind the chairs already now Paolo but is it worth all the costs ?

I now use Google Maps for navigation now over here in NL and that info cannot be beaten by this system imo ….

    Why would you want to?
A nice set of high end midrange and tweeters in front will provide a significant improvement in sound over the JBL 200mm CF drivers. This is not my opinion, I hear this all the time. And it makes perfect sense. You don't put woofers in the doors and midrange and tweeters behind you. Not if you want a decent sound stage. So why does Ferrari do this? It's basically a real estate problem. Not enough room in the back for a decent subwoofer, but electrostats are extremely thin and take up almost no space. So, they put speakers where they can, and it fills up the car with sound. Crappy sound stage, no imaging, but lots of sound. A well designed system with high quality midrange and tweeters in front of you and an ample powered sub behind you sounds breathtaking.
