    Not even close
If you want winner you need to move along to 360 N-GT step 5 engine, pure F1 sonics for your pleasure...

Must have watched that 100 times...

There is that little thing about a hundred grand more.

    But yes the 16M represents a fantastic value;
First convertible "special" mid engined V-8
And only 499 made (wink wink).

IMO a coupe catches the "race car" essence better but in value its the 16M.

    That depends.
Do you want a sensible cool boulevard cruiser like a red convertible California ?

But to me a Ferrari has to be rare and special like my hand built 12 cylinder Boxer or a "race car for the street".

I'm currently contemplating another Ferrari and waiting for some land to sell.
In my price range it will either be a CS, Scud or a 599 converted to manual.
    Or perhaps a manual 430.

I love these comparison threads and bounce from one to another.
Half the fun is research and dreaming :D

Biggest (or rather, only) draw back for a stock CS is the gearbox, which, compared to more modern stuff isn't that great...I do wonder how hard it is to upgrade it to SF2 spec, could it be as simple as a scuderia clutch and software?

Or of course a manual conversion ;)

Ah, but you forget the 1999 F355 spider Serie Fiorano....that was the first, even more limited production.

Youd need the Scud gearbox and a lot of hacking to get the tcu to work with older gen ecu but I could do the sw bits. Easier and more fun to go gated, although I am biased...

    google my friend... :)

Did it for you: (not mentioned, but also had a differently programmed suspension ECU)
    Limited Edition Fiorano[edit]
For the 1999 model year, Ferrari introduced a limited production of F355 Spider models designated, "Serie Fiorano". Launched in March 1999, this limited production run of 100 planned units (104 actually produced) included a number of enhancements increasing the track performance much closer to the Challenge versions:[6]

    • Competizione-derived Fiorano suspension pack, featuring wide track, stiffer springs, a thicker anti-roll bar
    • Drilled and ventilated brake discs and competition brake pads
    • Competizione-sourced steering rack
    • Challenge rear grilles and enamelled Scuderia Ferrari shields
    • Carbon-fibre inserts (normally only available as expensive special order options): centre console, door sills and paddle shifters
    • Suede-covered steering wheel
There were 100 Serie Fiorano units delivered to the U.S. market, 74 with the F1 transmission and 26 with the 6-speed manual. An additional 4 units were produced beyond the planned production for the U.S., with only 3 European models and one unit destined for South Africa. The American units were delivered with a numbered plaque affixed to the dashboard while the 3 Fioranos delivered to Europe had no numbered plaque.

The Scud is the better car. Of course. But the Stradale is the more desirable one.

Perhaps, but Lightguy is talking about limited production mid engine V8 convertibles...he said the 16M was first, but the F355 Serie Fiorano was the first. 348 Series Speciale was the one and only targa limited. Roughly same numbers, around 100 produced for the USA market

That settles it then. I really like your solution of converting a Challenge centre console. As is standard with your car, it's as if the Factory did it this way!

My ex-CS had a full tubi header-cat-catback setup and it was epic...comparatively and objectively speaking my current Scud setup sounds better and louder than that, but ya, my old cs setup was my reference point for that perfect clean high-pitched F1 shrill.

Stock for stock, the cs sounds better out of the box hands down.

    Great posts/vids guys.

All I can say when reading thru this (every time it comes up) is:

    MAN THESE CARS ARE GREAT!

Debating which is "best" is silly imho. (but I've long since realized it somehow matters to others)

The other thought that goes thru my head is "THIS is why I'm not buying any Ferrari made after the Scud"

Yup, and Chris Harris said he would take a McLaren, but that was not the question...the question was which of the four?

The market HAS spoken, Cs prices have substantially dropped. 140-160k sales have been coming across the block.

Where have you seen such sales prices? Maybe with high miles and accident history but certainly not on low miles, no story examples. On the other hand few Scuderias have sold in that range recently. CNC sold two in that range couple months ago.

Fake news. AND ontop of that both had stories/accident history.

There was a recent stripeless, red, non-storied CS that did sell here on FCHAT w 30k miles for 160K though.

There was also another non-storied, aftermarket stripe CS, 15k miles that sold for 175K that sold a month-ish ago.

Then there was the TdF CS, storied, once also listed at CNC that then sold at auction for 150K.

Lets all exercise some objectivity here instead of perpetuating misinformation...
