    very interesting
    thanks for posting that

so now, in addition to speculation of GPF, we can also chicken-little-the-sky-is-falling about a Symposer

Unless more spy shots come out to distract us...

    "PRIOR ART
    • [0004]
In a high-performance sports car, the noise of the internal combustion engine perceived inside the passenger compartment is highly important.
    • [0005]
A significant component in the judgement of a high-perforce sports car is the "quality" of the sound emitted by the exhaust system (not only and not primarily in terms of intensity of the sound, but especially in terms of "likeability" of the emitted sound), namely the degree of satisfaction in the use of a high-performance sports car is significantly influenced also by the "quality" of the sound emitted by the exhaust system...
    • [0006]
Generally speaking, turbocharged engines are disadvantaged as the presence of the turbine along the exhaust duct and of the compressor along the intake duct add a filter and a lowering of the sound levels both of the exhaust system and of the intake system.
    • [0007]
Furthermore, recent EURO6C emission standards establish the use of exhaust gas treatment devices that significantly jeopardize sound performances, as a particulate filter (also called GPF, i.e. "Gasoline Particulate Filter") must necessarily be present in series to the catalytic converter, even in petrol engines.
    • [0008]
In order to improve how the noise of the internal combustion engine is perceived inside the passenger compartment, intake noise amplifying devices were suggested, for example..."

Okay, now we're getting some where.. so would you also agree that a few extra people biting the dust along the way is probably worth having a better sounding V12 in the big scheme of things?

    I vote yes

My daughter’s Lexus NX300 has this amplifying device. It is soooooooo cheesy. I chuckle every time I drive her car as it sounds cartoonish. I am pretty sure Ferrari will never implement this in any of their cars.

There is no DIRECT correlation between breaking a few laws and extra people biting the dust. Tenuous correlation at best and in fact the person generally breaking the law will bite the dust - and thats a personal decision :)

No reason to think 812 VS will not, especially in light of potential GPF effects

It depends what is your contract stating. In my case, they did not follow the terms, they set themselves in their own contract, and i am pretty sure, that I can get my full deposit back regardless of gpf being in my car or not.

This thread has gone way off topic... lol

What were the factory requirements for securing the F12 TDF in retrospect?

I believe ownership of a V12 (at that time either 599 or F12)was minimum.
In reality dealers put best clients forward.
I think there is a strong chance any 812 VS will be limited production not limited number which might give a few more people a chance.

I stand corrected. Thanks for providing the info. Still surprising, especially on the TDF. You gotta love F Chat for its information and diversity.

There are some well informed people here.
I’m simply recalling prior discussions that surprised me enough to be memorable

Yes it was ownership of 599 or F12, but allocations were definitely from Ferrari HQ based on their global customer 'points' system, not dealer allocated. First time this occurred for non-halo (Enzo, LaF) cars. I just snuck in....

    2 v12s must 3 more likely.
They cut half of dealer list saying they are not qualified for tdf

Just a comment related to this particule filter potentially on the 812 from my2020
If you check on ferrari website whatever usa or Eu it is clearly mentionned that the new 812 co2 and fuel are on both ndce and wltp regulation... and until end of 2020 both will coexist... and from 2021 wltp only will apply
I am based out of france and should get mine by year end... let me double check with my dealer and see what he reports to me on that matters

NDCE and WLTP are just testing methods, they don't impose emission limitations. Euro standards do that.

Just watched a review of the new 911 Speedster by Henry Catchpole.
It has a GPF fitted to essentially the GT3 engine.
Porsche claim and Catchpole confirms exhaust note not compromised, weight has been reduced and power is increased.
Are we worrying about GPF in the same way we did about the impact the millennium would have !

Adding something that wasn't previously there can't possibly reduce weight. Or am I taking crazy pills? Maybe the piped in engine noise soundtrack was improved? I jest. I hope it isnt as bad as some think it will be.
