Yes, that's the myth. Never been proven though.
This topic has been done to death in the 348/355 section and no-one has definitively proven the claim.
In fact I remember one well know shop owner chiming in and saying after having literally dozens of 355s on his dyno he has seen nothing to confirm this theory.
Different cars produce different results, as you'd expect.
Another bloke came on and said at his local dyno the 355 that has produced the most power he's seen was a 5.2

I am prepared to concede however, that Moretti's hot-rod probably produces more power than any of them.

If only he could drive it properly...

    What tyres did you buy?

Just curious - a question for the people whom know what they're talking about:
What tyres would be best for the track without being too hard-core?
ie. If one had a set up that was different for the track as opposed to road, what would the knowledgeable recommend?

    FO, they're **** :)

    http://www.dunloptyres.com.au/dotCMS/TyreBrowseAction?website=DMS&websegment1=MOTORSPORT&websegment2=H20

Are suppose to be better but I've found they take a couple of laps to come up to temp, whereas :

    http://toyotires.com.au/tyres/motorsport-tyres/item/20-proxes-r888

these come up to temp and grip by about halp a lap of QR which is a smallish track and as Wakefield is also roughly the same size I'd go for the 888s

Call me up and I'll give you some " special" tips that I get from my mate Giovanni Millard

Haha fair enough you’ve got so much more experience with this subject than I will ever have so I’ll take your word for it, mind you I also heard very good things about Dunlop tyres and well priced was that 10 psi
My Pirelli tyres are wearing very well after 10,000 ish klm mind you when I get my license back you can drag me to a track day I really need it.

    888’s or Re71R’s.
    Both are great.
The Bridgestones have almost no road noise and the grip is mega.
I could (almost) keep up with Horse’s GTR with those boots.
I’ve had 888’s on other cars and they are fantastic as well.
A050’s are great too, but expensive and I don’t think you can get them in sizes for the 355.

Interesting thanks. A lot of people mention 888s.
I’ve just had a new set of MPSS fitted to my car for the road (had Bridgestone RE050As before that).

Was curious what I should put on the Challenge rims for track-day use only without going silly about it.
