I remember Schumacher being penalized from the WDC championship for making contact with Villeneuve at Jerez. Forcing a driver off the circuit has always been a problem in F1. It comes down to whether it’s a racing incident (incidental contact) or forcible contact sending a driver off the circuit.
Thanks for the concern. It was raining . Decided to see if FIA and Merc would actually carry out the charade of fluffing to reinvigorate interest level in F1 after the record all time disparagement level of France. Imagine my surprise, the Mercs suddenly turned into milk trucks after a fairly routine trouncing of the competition only two weeks ago. As if on cue. .
Seriously, and with sincere respect, how many of the ex-F1 drivers are lamenting the state of the rules as they exist today, versus the specific application of those rules? How many have even read the current rules?
You've got a new leash on your forum membership after twice calling hamilton ''haters'' racist within a week so perhaps not.
Fixed it for you. I watched Toto try to sheepishly explain the overheating issues. Sky should have been more diligent in challenging, but I’m certain Liberty would t like that. Entertaining race, for certain, but the quick change in fortunes can’t be ignored.
Maybe we are all looking at this wrong and they are trying to disqualify both drivers so Bottas gets the win
I've seen little (or no) evidence to agree with you. Most of the tweets i've seen, are more along the lines of the "good old days" of racing, when men were men (and one or two would die on the track every season). Most of the tweets i've seen, are lamenting the current state of F1 rules (rather than the specific application). Show me a ex-F1 driver who, clearly understanding the current rules, argues against the specific application of those rules.
??? Show me the argument, where the specific application of the rules ... as they exist today ... is in error.
Comes to something when the most entertaining part of discussing the race is limited to whether or not the FIA and stewards will ruin the result again with their inane ********
So, if you hit someone, or push someone off, or make them brake, as long as it is NOT a Mercedes.... rules are clear as a bell now... Mercedes is the deciding factor
In the U.S. we have something called "jury nullification" where a jury believes a law is unjust so they find the defendant not guilty, even though the evidence says he is. It doesn't happen often, thankfully, but it does happen. Maybe f1 needs a little of that: "We the stewards find the driver of car xx violated Rule xxx of the regulations. However we find Rule xxx to be **** so we are not awarding a penalty. We're the stewards and that is our final decision." Edit: Never mind.
