So would you say the F8 is as fast as the PISTA with the right tires ?

Thats why I don’t place much gospel on any result, and do loathe myself when I magazine ‘race.’ So much variability come into play, as you mentioned tires is just one. The biggest factor being weather, then driver skill. Track, car condition, fuel load, heck, sometimes the driver had a death wish that day. The Fiorano times are marketing measures that are grounded on the basic facts stated above. You asked for lap times, I obliged.

Anybody that does ‘real’ racing is laughing at us and this discussion. I’m not even talking about pro, but amateur racing as well.

Your claim is simply the SF90 can’t be faster then a LaF at Fiorano. You may be right. Personally, I don’t know, and I’m naturally skeptical with people that say they know the future.

I’ve found the biggest factor on track is me, and my own performance (or lack thereof). @noone1 it sounds like track times are of utmost importance to you. What car and track do you have a track car you favor? It was mentioned previously that you don’t own any cars (along with other things that were not true)

correct. You want a track car, get a Challenge / XX series.
Want a nice road car get any regular Ferrari.
A track car will run around in circles around a road car. Hence why these track times aboslutely mean nothing for road cars.
I'm sure the SF90 is pretty fast on a track. However my Challenge will most likely destroy it.
So what would be the point!?
I want a nice driving sporty road car with the SF90. Not a hardcore racer with zero comfort just I can get my groceries 0.87 seconds faster!?

Nah, I don't really care about lap times at all, I was just pointing out the unlikeliness of the claim. I really don't think you're getting a LF-beater in the SF90 with regards to all-out performance.

In the real world all the cars are a wash since the limits extend far beyond the limits of the road. I'm not convinced even an SF90 could get from A to B much quicker than an F8 unless it's a very long, straight road. What largely determines real world performance is just how high above the speed limit you're willing to go, not so much the car that you're in.

With all due respect, you’re wrong. The track times are meaningful because they give you a constant with which to compare various cars without speed limit constraints, which is virtually impossible to achieve on any public roads.

No-one is suggesting it is meaningful or relevant to compare dedicated track models with models designed for public roads.

Not every fast road going car is designed to be fast on the track as well. It's always a balance between both. A 812 is not a fast track car, but that doesn't mean it's a slow road car.
All I'm saying is that fast track times don't always make great road cars.

I agree with that. I was just pointing out that track times do carry meaning, contrary to your statement that they “mean nothing”.

Why oh why does Ferrari show the SF90 with this horrible wheel design when the new 'turbine' wheels absolutely fit beautifully with the car!?

I think this thread is now over-saturated with photos of the RC launch car. Let’s start finding and posting pics of the other two specs for variety sake.

    Ain't that the truth!

Whenever I'm on track my biggest competitor is not the other cars, but always myself.

Now if course I only am only the 4th level on the pyramid of speed. Well, if you count LeMons them I get to level 5 ;)
