And yet barrichello stated on numerous occasions he couldn’t live with schumi on track, and that he knew schumi was way better. Same with Irvine (who is an awesome chap by the way, so funny and a very fast guy on his day)

Team orders moved him over how often??? Not that much, he was usually behind, having qualified behind, sometimes a second off the pace in SECOND ON THE GRID. I don’t see Elton beating butler by anywhere near as much

And yet Alonso (who is a 2 time champ unlike Barrichello) said Ham was one of the greatest ever, Rosberg said same thing after beating Schumi.

If Alonso didn’t say that, he’d look a total prick since Elton ran him to the wire. Rosberg has never said Elton was better than schumi, ever. Get your facts right

Personally I think LH is a good driver, very tactical but not a great one, in an outstanding car. Its pretty obvious that Mercedes have specifically targeted LH style of driving and designed the car to suit him, not Bottas.

Others have alluded to previous examples such as Irvine and many others, teams cannot make 2 distinctly different cars to suit different driver styles, they can have a different setup but in essence I am talking about the whole car package and team. The 2nd driver (Bottas) in this instance will have to learn a new technique or get swept aside or take up the No1 slot, which isn't going to happen.

Agreed, ferrari itself acknowledged that Vettel and Kimis first year, the car was set up strongly to favour Sebastian and Kimi struggled, then as the car developed it moved towards Kimi, and he had stronger results as a consequence, hence they were no exactly happy, but accepted, that Kimi underperformed as a direct result. That’s why he kept his place on the team when many were calling for his head

But he didn’t. They had the same points as I remember, and if they did, that means he didn’t beat him. Alonso taking advantage of something he shouldn’t have and getting caught didn’t help him get support for over half the season either otherwise the results may have been very different. Course, I’ve never seen Ricci drive into the gravel in the pit lane, crash into a stationary car, nor lie to the stewards, but I guess Elton is the champ of that now isn’t he? Hehe

Elton DID NOT develop the car, he couldn’t have, as testing doesn’t exist like it once did. How many times do you need to be reminded of the facts?

IMO - I would say great F1 drivers have been recognised as being great and teams restructuring themselves around them. That's the hallmark of a great team, the driver gets the benefit and becomes WDC.

 

If two drivers have the same points, they count how many wins, second places etc. Ham beat Alonso. You're right Ricci has never crashed, and never got beat by Kyviat in 2015

Last time I was in the McLaren factory it was suprising how some speak quite frankly of the Hamilton period, now that the gagging order has been binned.
