Yeah yeah, Im sure it took lots of skills to carry the Silver Arrow to a win.....suuuuure.
While I know the new softs will be faster, a part of me sees value in Ferrari pushing Mercedes a little harder. Accepting 3rd does secure points ... but it feels a bit too acquiescent.
From the Gazzetta dello Sport... I suppose I don't have to translate: Silverstone facile per Hamilton. Ferrari, gran Leclerc 3°. Disastro Vettel: tamponato Verstappen!
Nice interview Charles "Last race was really an eye opener for me, showing how far we can go" Translation: "Yes Max, I can drive that way as well, so give a little room sometimes" Charles vs Vintage Max was the highlight of the race
LeC driver of the day and deserved. You should. It says EASY race for Lewis and GRAND race for LeC. then it goes on to say that Vettel gave Max a penalty for overtaking LeC off track.... maybe
1.Boy, our car understeers like a pig. We're going to have a hard time just to keep 2nd. 2. Excellent team job by Vettel. If you can't beat him, crash with him. 3. After Austria, some said that Leclerc was too soft. Bollocks: if he knows that he won't get punished, he can drive like a bastard.
Beautiful driving by CL, very impressed. Just needs a better car to show his true potential. Really showed MV he is a much better racer. Sadly for me the SF failed yet again to maximise the opportunities in the race and SV, we can start a whole new thread on that one. tony
This is live if anyone wants to watch., it's just post race stuff. You will probably need to watch on twitter. Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date
Haha. It's not even 10am in TX....did you roll in from a long night out at dawn? But yeah, Ferrari lack of pace makes me sleepy. Off to swim, nap, IndyCar.
Leclerc got the " best of driver of the day award". They should institute the "Sheettel driver of the day" award too.
I get up in the middle of the night to work out. Usually nap between seven and nine. Just woke up thirty minutes ago.
Vettel: "It was my mistake. He passed me into Stowe, then he ran a bit wide and gave me the chance to come back. Then it looked for a second that he would go to the right and that there would be a gap on the left which I was hoping to go in for, but it didn't open and then...." "...... by that time it was already too late and I was already too close.... I crashed. Today, was really good. I was very happy. Some important moments in the beginning of the race that we benefit from."
Don't like re posting my own post, but my question was asked in a busy part of the race. Was Giovinazzi parked in the gravel trap really worthy of a safety car? Thanks
SV 4WDC were mostly due to the car now we can see what he can do(or can't) when time to actually race pops ... same can be said about "other" driver riding the best car
Any actual need for spoiler alerts this season ? Toto will place Ham P1 if he can’t do it himself where he wants a win. Easy to predict actually. Wondering if Merc is out to beat their 2016 best of two losses in one season, or if they’ll manufacture another loss to keep FIA/Liberty/public interest from taking a hit. I’m thinking they’ll develop phantom gearbox gremlins at Monza if F1 takes a nosedive in viewership. The races are such yawners now, neither Merc is on the screen after the first few laps anyway. Toto and the gang should actually be contributing funds to Fezza and the Cans for keeping the camera folks awake.
New term: "Strategic Safety Car". Even the announcers were surprised it was a full SC, rather than VSC. Of course, they'd already scrod Bottles with the 2-stop commitment. Ferrari shafted Charles -- twice. First by pushing him onto softs in Q2, just because Vettel needed them. Then with that fiasco at the SC. Then Vettel screwed himself ..... again. Leclerc driver of the day ..... and of the team. Now if only Ferrari would recognize that. And, when the dust settled, the Brit driver won in Britain. Quelle Surprise.
