    Hello all,

We’ve decided to do a group buy for the 458 and 488 owners for our ECU Flashes. We have done several group buys for the 360 and F430 owners with great success and feedback. This time we are extending it to the other models. If you haven’t done so, do it, you won’t regret it! Below are the details of why we believe our ECU Flash is the best bang for the buck:

    ECU Flashing

Many clients ask what does the ECU Flash actually achieve: besides the obvious increase of power, we enhance many different tables, one big one to note; the throttle maps to make the car more responsive. Clients’ feedback also tends to usually note how much smoother the engine and power delivery are. For those who track their car, many report better fuel consumption figures as well. We customize the flash to your certain specs/fuel. Depending on the model we optimize dozens of tables that relate with fueling, ignition timing, cam timing, throttle tables, airflow modeling tables, torque tables, boost tables etc.

Each Ferrari model will have a certain hardware and software type. There are usually a handful of different software calibrations for each model. What model year, country/region of the globe will usually differ. We have seen almost every type of software type across Ferrari model platform. So, with every car we start with the factory calibration type and optimize it from there.

Ferrari Models we have experience with: 360, F430, 458, 488, 599, 612, FF, F12, (currently developing with new models as well)

Below are actual dyno charts of before and after an ECU flash done in house on our dyno:

    458:

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

Notes: This was a 100% stock 458 Italia. Tuned on 93 Octane. You can see the gains throughout the entire RPM range, especially 4000 RPMs all the way to 9000. Depending upon the modifications, most 458's will pick up 20-25 wheel horsepower from the tune. We've done several 458 challenge cars that will make 28-32 whp gain on race fuel.

    488:

Below is a case study of a 488, all stock, except for the ECU Tune (93 Octane)

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

Notes: you can see the major gains throughout the rpm range. We bring the power on sooner by helping the turbo spool up faster, and from 3200 RPMs to redline there are astronomical gains. Almost 120 wheel horsepower gain and 100 ft/lbs of torque peak increases really will transform this car.

Who we are and why you should choose us

Simply put: Experience. We have extensive knowledge not only with the Ferrari models, but across the spectrum of sports cars. We have been calibrating engines for over 16 years now. We do all programming in-house, and all is developed on our all wheel drive Dyno Dynamics chassis dynamometer. We have thousands of clients running our flashes/tunes in street and race cars across the globe.

Motorsports also are a big part of the business. We have worked with many race teams across IMSA and Pirelli World challenge professional road racing series. I personally have been an engineer working amongst the pro ranks since 2010. I have also been involved with SCCA, NASA, PCA and other club racing series. In a sport where reliability is crucial, as well as finding the last tenth of a second of potential can make or break your race weekend. I am also a Ferrari owner so I have a soft spot for the brand being an owner and enthusiast.

We thrive on customer experience and feedback. We work extremely hard to make sure every single client is happy and enjoying our services.

    How it works

When you place the order for the ECU Flash on our website (www.Maseflash.com), you will be emailed back with an instruction guide on how the process works. The 458 models we can supply a handheld programmer unit to flash the ECU(s) yourself, or you can always send us the ECUs directly as well. The 488 models we need the ECU at our facility and we supply documentation to uninstall/install the ECU. We also supply a sheet to fill out (specs of your specific car) to include back to us when you package up the ECUs . From there when we receive the shipment, we will customize the tune to your requirements, flash them and return them back to you promptly.

We often have clients who ship or drive their cars to our facility in Florida who want a more custom tune on our chassis dyno as another option.

    Pricing

We are offering a Group Buy / Sale on all of our ECU Flashes for the Ferrari models. We are extending a 10% discount on any ECU Flash.

The 458 ECU flash normally is $1750, discounted to $1575 (mail in ECUs). If you desire the handheld flash programmer the normal cost is $1995, discounted to $1795.50.

The 488 ECU Flash normally is $2495.00 discounted to $2245.50.

https://maseflash.com/discount/Spring19Discount?redirect=/collections/ferrari is the direct link that will automatically add the discount.

You can also email us for further help with the purchase.

    FAQ

How much will the flash increase the performance of my vehicle?

Results will vary. We are very realistic when it comes to publishing actual gains. Every dyno reads differently. We only publish results based on actual gains derived from many hours of proper testing. Don’t always trust what you read on the internet.

How do you customize the tune for my vehicle?

We take in account modifications, if any, what octane fuel you are running, geographical parameters, and any specific requirements you request. Changes in header/cat/exhaust configurations can sometimes warrant specific changes in the tune. IE. race cars that don't have catalytic converters can benefit from different fueling ratios/ignition timing that may differ from stock component vehicles.

Why does the cost vary based on Ferrari model?

With the exception of the 488 and other Ferrari turbo models, most late model Ferraris have two ECUs. The ECU type varies based on what model. Some ECUs are easier to work with than others. Turbo motor ECUs are often more complex and there is more coding involved.

Will this harm my engine or reduce the engine reliability?

No, we simply don’t put the engine in harm’s way. Like many manufactures, the Ferrari engines are very conservatively tuned from the factory. We don’t release anything that has not been tested extensively.

Can you disable that annoying check engine light?

Many people have been discussing disabling the check engine light in many threads. Due to government/EPA restrictions I can only disable CELs/DTCs for off road purpose only, such as track/race cars. Being a public forum, I would not like to get involved more in depth due to obvious reasons. For more specific help regarding troubleshooting a check engine light, please email us or send us a private message and we can further discuss.

    Is the ECU Flash permanent?

No, it can be flashed back to 100% OEM at any time. We back up the original calibration files to every car we tune.

Can you flash other types of cars?

Absolutely, we tune many different makes and models. Please contact us directly for further information.

We look forward to working with many of you, and as always, please let us know if anyone has any further questions. We will update this thread periodically as more questions arise.

    Regards,

    Steve

    Four questions:
    1. Will the 458 flash generate a check engine light?
    2. Will it still pass Georgia emissions tests?
    3. If we pay extra for the flash programmer, do we keep it?
    4. Can it then be used to reflash to stock gratis, if necessary?

    1. The tune will not generate a check engine light.
    2. It will still pass emissions.
    3. Yes it is yours to keep.
    4. Yes the 458 flash programmer will hold the OEM tune as well as the performance flash, you can flash it back to stock at any time you wish. The programmer can hold more than one tune as well.

we can recreate the exhaust burbles similar to factory, and we have some clients who want even more aggressive 'pops and bangs' that we can do as well.

It will not remove the pops and burbles, unless you don't enjoy it then we can change it.

Do you have any affiliations in Europe as the importing fees/"tax" here from US are getting high as f*-.¨ these days?

Do you need me to send you the ECU or you can send me a file to load to my car? I have a 458

Just a suggestion, when people from Europe send me fobs to repair I have them fill out the customs documents as a temporary import - car parts sent for repair. If you ship your ECUs to the US and they come back with different software nobody would know they're worth $2,000 more when they're returned to you.

We hope in the future we will be able to flash the 488 via OBD2. For now, there has been great progress made. When we originally were flashing the 488 ECUs it required us to have to open the ECU and bench flash. Now we no longer have to open the ECU. The process is more straight forward for us. It takes about 15 minutes to remove the ECU from the vehicle. Turn around time can be as short as 3 days total(day 1 remove ecu and overnight to us, day 2 we receive it flash it and overnight it back, day 3 you reinstall and away you go).

Yes it will. In fact we have done a couple Speciales already

I can mail over the handheld flash programmer and mark whatever customs duty value you wish. That way you don't have to send the ECUs from your 458 all the way to us in the USA. Then you would flash it yourself at the convenience of your home. We supply the software and hardware. It works great and very easy to use! But to answer your question, we do have affiliates within Germany and England if you would rather go that route, however the user handheld flash tool is an easier approach.

yes typically we've done that and often they don't get hit with customs duty (depends on the country I believe)

Flashing via OBD2 is a nice feature, the 488's have a particular Bosch ecu that is pretty complex. If and when any development for OBD2 flashing, I will update the thread in the future.

But for now, bench flashing is pretty straight forward, most clients can remove the 488 ecu in about 15-20 minutes.

For those who don't want to attempt it, we have shops we can refer to, and we can offer onsite flash service by us coming directly to you.

Where in Ca are you located? If its something you would rather have a shop install the flash, depending upon what region of CA you are located, we can point you to a shop that can handle everything with ease.

We supply a couple different types of handheld programmers depending upon the type of ECU/options needed. The hardware on the flash side will be similar to say open flash, but our software is what sets us apart from the competition!

Shoot me a PM or email me: Mase@MaseEngineering. Will be happy to help further.

We take in account previsions so we don't shock the gearbox with too much additional torque. We bring the additional torque on a little easier for this reason. None of our clients have had any issues what so ever.

Just a quick note about Mase Engineering. I purchased the hand held tuner from Steve for my 458. The install couldn't have been easier. I got the tuner a couple days after ordering via UPS. I downloaded my stock ecu mapping into the hand held controller and then sent the stock file via email to Steve at Mase. In a few hours Steve sent me back a email that contained two maps for my 458 spider. The first map was his "performance" tune and the 2nd map was a custom map designed to soften the initial throttle abruptness associated with the 458 and give it a few more pops on decel. . So I immediately installed the "performance" map. You gotta be patient as the controller must rewrite both ECU's. I took about 10 minutes. I then went for a ride. HOLY ****! The difference is astounding. Throttle response is way more direct and you can clearly feel the difference in performance from open throttle to about 6k rpms. After 6k it feels about the same but then I realized I was traveling way faster when I got to that point in the rpms. I say that this is the best performance enhancement I have done to the 458. Steve Mase is wicked enthusiastic about the tuning and is willing to work with you every step of the way during the install process and the final tune you end up with. I could not recommend Mase any higher. I am now working with Steve to fly up to my home and map my Lamborghini Performante, BMW M3, Porsche Macan Turbo, Shelby GT350R and my MB CLK63 Black series. I don't think he can map my UNIMOG but while he's here..... LOL. So yea this guy is the real deal. Big thumbs up for MASE ENGINEERING!. Image Unavailable, Please Login

    Guys,
I got the programmer a week ago and I received in few days I have paid. If you use this programmer make sure you turn on and off from the ignition as the programmer instruct you to do since 458 have two ecu to flash. So, by turning on and off with ignition it will start programmer the other ecu. I mess up the instruction and Steve were very patient and answer all the emails in a short period of time. Its 20 mins in total instead of 10mins.
I had quite a few mod like full exhaust and bmc air filter, and thus the infamous CEL. I had requested a softer throttle and prolong pop and crackle. I was a bit skeptical at first but after I flash my car, I then went to a track day, and I was happy to report that the car was solid right through the start and no Cel for the whole trip and after event. I think the car is smoother and softer with throttle on race mode, much like in the normal mode which is fantastic when coming out of corner.
I can now felt the top end power every gear from 2nd all the way to 6st. Car is now scary fast from 100km to 200km. Got a load of compliment for the extended pops. I am very happy with the result. I can't expressed how much gratitude for Steve's amazing tuning skill and excellent customer service that he provided.
if any of you are on the fence doing this up grade, don't hesitate. Big thumbs up as well.

Can anyone post a video of these extended pops. I’m interested in having some pops but absolutely hate the totally synthetic and fabricated, seemingly endless pops that some of the local tuners do out here in Southern California. The cars sound obnoxious and pops off like a rifle when the throttle is let off. Looking for something a bit more subtle and natural.

Can you post more info about Speciale gains, perhaps a dyno run?

Can the programmer do data logging in order to allow you to fine tune the off the shelf tune to my car/my fuel/my environment? Does the datalogger read knock sensor activity?

Do you have an off the shelf map for E85, or can you tune for it? What’s the additional cost for custom tuning?
