I'll go with those that suggest a talented unknown. Let Leclerc be the undisputed #1 and see where he goes with it.

Jack I think it's difficult to measure Rossi against the rest of the field in F1. I agree he has been doing an amazing job in Indycar but I don't think that the top teams would consider him. Herta might be a better F1 prospect.
Alex wouldn't want a Best-of-the-Rest drive and should be wary of doing a "Zanardi" and ending up nowhere. He can have a very successful career for the next 10 or 15 years in Indycar. It's not a bad way to go, ask Scott Dixon.

I didn't know that. :) Riccardo would fit like a glove at Ferrari.

I don't think so. On the contrary, an American driver, with Italian descent, would be a great asset for Ferrari since the USA is its biggest market.

My only doubt is if Rossi is really that good. He is definitely talented by not by "Verstappen & Leclerc" standards.

If Kimi returned to Ferrari, why it would be a problem for Alonso? :)

Rossi is really THAT good. Mercedes should consider taking a flyer on him (as a replacement for the already very good Bottas).

Colton Herta is also THAT good. Just wait and see . . .

I've never "got" the RIC thing. I think Red Bull will have been his big moment. I certainly don't ever see him at Ferrari.

As for Rossi he'd be a good fit at Hass for a year as a back door to Ferrari. He'd certainly be a big improvement for the team over what they have now which is pathetic. Unfortunately I don't know if he has the ability to attract sponsorship.

I'd pick Bottas. His contract is up. This would serve well to see how good Leclerc really is. Bottas is very solid. Does not make many mistakes. Good points finisher at least for Ferrari. I actually think he is as good as Vettel right now. Good team guy.

Rossi was on and off F1 from 2012 'til 2015, as test driver, reserve driver and even driver at Caterham and Marussia.
When those folded, he went back to Indycar where he did quite well.
He never attracted interest from other F1 teams at the time, so I can't see Ferrari contemplating recruiting him now.
I am not saying he is bad or anything, just that he missed his chance of a slot in F1 years ago.

Bottas's car and team are so superior that it's difficult to judge his talent. He's good, but we don't really know how good.

Or, replacing Giovinazzi (dare I say Kimi) at Alfa Romeo. Either one would be a back door to Ferrari, as you say.

How about Stroll? Papa has a lot of rather nice Ferraris ,a Ferrari dealership in Quebec, private race track, yachts ,private jets, yadayadayada.

Yes he left the Ferrari young driver program, but hey he has a cute head of hair right?

Otherwise go for Werewolf, their expert sim jockey.

Either one could get within .2 of Vettel, yesterdays man.

Yep all in all Stroll would be a popular choice amongst the Fchat peeps.

Fair. However, Mercedes dominated the 2nd half of the season last year. It wouldn’t have mattered

He was part owner 2006-08. still best place in championship in 2008 (6.) and the one and only win. 2008 STR was even better than RBR.

To be fair, back then STR was almost allowed to run a Red Bull clone and the Ferrari engine was better than the Renault of Red Bull, so those stats are somewhat circumstancial.

Fully agreed. Berger is approachable but also knows how to sort out areas where there are clearly issues.

However, if we have to replace seb my money would be on Verstappen. He can get more done with less.

Alonso could do the same but he's not a long term prospect due to age.

Ricciardo great to but as last year showed, Max has evolved into a superior driver now. Ricciardo would be great if the car was on equal terms with Mercedes.

I have to agree with that, reluctantly.
The question is: could Ferrari attract him and get him out of Red Bull's clutches?
Max isn't really my cup of tea, but I think he could be the only one capable to rival Hamilton.
I don't know if he is 'technical' enough to help improve the Ferrari, but his style tends to overcome car deficiencies.
But mostly, he has more fire in him than a lot of drivers.
The co-habitation with Leclerc would become an interesting subject of conversation though ...

Bottas and Charles. Charles is the star. Bottas is capable and better harmony. Bottas exceeds Charles then no worries due to good harmony around the team. I think those 2 would push each other more than we think.
