Hi I have the usual 456 window issue with a small gap on the drivers side. I recently had the passenger side window replaced. unfortunatly they didn't get it fitting properly. the window now goes up way too far! when I close the door the the window does its final wind up but it pushes its way out as its trying to go up too far. How do I adjust the travel?
Also how much to ship in a 20 foot container from FNQ to Dural NSW....What's your best price for cash....
One of these days I’ll get round to adjusting my drivers side window, FMS have quoted $450 which may seem excessive but after a day trying and one previously broken window, I’ll let them do it properly Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Sonically me says you could do it yourself but then you won’t have receipt for the work and parts and then the car will be frowned upon.. just remember that if it’s a Ferrari the weight of the receipts at sale must equal the weight of the car x the age of the car.....
They’re easy enough to adjust, but that’s not your problem. The problem is the alloy centre pin in the scissor mechanism. Because the windows ‘burp’ down every time you open and close the doors, the pin wears a groove into it. You can adjust it out, depending on how bad it is, but it will just happen again within a short time, and be worse. The only real fix is to send the window reg assemblies over to F1 imports in the states. They rebuild the assy with stainless steel pivot pins. You’ll never do them again. And before you ask, no, no one in Australia does it, and by the time they do the R&D to be able to do it (the pivot pins are not just a cylinder, otherwise I’d have done it myself) it would have worked out far cheaper to send them away. From memory they cost me $250 US a side to do, plus shipping. The shipping was about $400 AUS from memory as well, and you’ll only ever get them done once. If that sounds expensive, a brand new Toyota Camry window reg is dearer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry Adrian. I didn’t read your post correctly. Travel adjustment is done via the mounting bolts and the stopper on the end of the door, at the top. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for your replies guys Sorry I didnt see them earlier. Thanks Gizzi I believe you are 100% correct and I will have to eventually send them away for the proper fix. In the short termI managedto do a quick fix on the adjustment. Once I worked out what the adjusters did I could make small adjustments. the drivers side wasnt out much and a quick adjustment (4hrs) got it spot on. (however I agree it wont last) the passenger side didnt have enough adjustment left so I had to drill a new hole. it also worked perfectly but for how long I dont know. I have attached a pic to show what the adjusters do. Thanks Again I have a 456 so I will have lots more questions as it has lots more problems haha Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
