How do I sign up for a Pista blast on the Autobahn?

Commercial activity though - Posting a video like that would hardly be considered a commercial activity.

Someone posting a link from a media company to optimize views of a youtube channel would be in my opinion.

Someone posting a video where they are trying to sell a product/service such as a dealer, broker service, detailing products, etc., should be considered different I'm assuming.

It would seem that ANY posting of pictures, videos, instagram links, etc. would be considered a commercial purpose and not allowed. (whether a third party or the person owning the content shouldn't make a difference IMO).

Robert Mitchell who owns that Pista showed a video of him going around the Ring and that was and should be acceptable.

I posted my own youtube tracking videos with Pista/488/720s and it didn't seem to be an issue.

 

Be a sponsor or have "an unaffiliated friend" post it. Pretty sure lots of review videos are both reviews and self promotion. Maybe I should go read the rule though and friends posting aren't allowed either. Not awake enough yet to fully explore this slippery slope.

I do see rules broken all the time in classifieds and special privileges given to friends of mods. But it's your site, your rules. Consistency would be good though.

 

Hard to be consistent when users don't police themselves... Exercise some self-governance and report users that you think have broken the rules. If you think I have read all 12 million posts here, you are mistaken.

 

The guy is an LLC and he has ads on his video. How is that not commercial? Ignorance is bliss I guess...

He was temp banned by me after that video was reported twice by users here. When that video was reported, I did a little research and found a couple DOZEN of his videos here, posted by him.

He's getting paid by youtube for clicks, he posts the videos here in a self serving promotion, and doesn't provide a whole lot else in terms of content.

I looked at his history, deleted most of his video threads (temporarily, not permanently) and asked him to talk to the admins about being a sponsor. Should he becoem a sponsor, we can un-delete them.

He's not even subscribed, much less paying anything for his self serving posts, hence the deletions and the ban.

He's welcome to come back either as a sponsor who can post videos, or as a regular member who doesn't post his videos. His choice.

He's not selling you anything. YouTube is showing you ad's, which you can block or ignore. But he's literally just showing you car content. Maybe you don't understand how YouTube works.

 

He gets paid by the click or view. he gets a percentage of each advertising dollar spent on youtube that runs on his site whil someone is viewing his page.

Listen- I’m not here to defend Fchat but I’ve been involved in various online communities for a while. I actually run a large one in my industry. Hard to police the members but I think Fchat does a decent job with the mods. No I’d ont agree with everything but who does.

But to your point about it being their bottom line- of course it’s about the bottom line. What business exists to give stuff away for free? And if you think Fchat should be a not for profit entity- well, then why? Do any of you run your own businesses as a charity? Why should Fchat?

I don’t think brooks did anything wrong by posting the video but if those are the Fchat rules- so be it.

 

Brooks did nothing intentionally wrong. He probably just didn't realize what the rules were. We have no problem with him or his content, he simply broke the rules. It would be one thing for him to disagree with the rules, but he turned this into a moral dilemma, claiming some conspiracy, which is just untrue. It would have been nice to hear from him before he posted about his ban, but I can't blame him for taking the opportunity to make the video. After all, he is clearly worried about his bottom line, too!

 

There is a difference between the content owner spamming all the car sites he can find for building a following/click count/views, and other users posting the same content here without the owner coming into the thread and providing additional self promotion.

 

I think it is worth noting that self-promotion as defined by us is linking to a website outside of FChat. If he just posted text/images or uploaded the video directly to FChat, that would be a different story. Many users here run businesses, some even talk openly about them, but when you post a link to your business, the line is crossed

 

Of course he does, never said otherwise. But did you have to buy anything? If you aren't 12 you probably already pay for YouTube Premium and no ad even plays.

Here this guy is creating content that your users will want to see and will return back to your site to discuss and create more traffic for yourself. You actually should be patting him on the back in this case. But hey its your forum big guy, do whatever you think you need to. I think it's short sighted.

You're missing the point. He's posting his videos here to make money. No we don't have to BUY anything, but he's still monetizing FC to his own advantage, just like ALL the sponsors here do.

Would Brooks be making these videos just to show them to his buddies? Or is he doing it to make a living. Hmmmm . . . thought so.

He's advertising his FOR PROFIT company here for free. That's also a TOU violation.

That's pretty much retarded. The guy has 200k or so subscribers, he probably gets peanuts with it. He posts a very good video of an autobahn blast in a Pista, something that is very interesting to say the least, and gets banned because "he is not a sponsor".

 

Couldn't be more the opposite. We are protecting both our sponsors and our users from further abuse of our community, which is why this forum has lasted for 20 years while others fizzle away

113 million channel views during 13 years of existence. Youtube pays him around $2500 per million views, so 113*2500/13/12 = $1810 on average per month.

 

There are plenty of crying videos out there of "influencers" aghast at the notion that they would be asked to pay for something. The offending non freebie provider will surely pay for this snub!

 

Him being a long time member. I feel he should have been warned and he most likely would have taken the video down. He showed in his video only receiving like 50 views. You have to consider intent. I doubt his intent is to harm other advertisers and get a freebie.
